330 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottle code 2054134. Pours crystal clear orange-copper color with a 1-2 finger off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin ring of lace. Minimal spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas of caramel, toffee, grape, molasses, raisin, prune, toast, earth, and light herbal spiciness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity. Taste of caramel, raisin, toffee, molasses, prune, toast, grape, and light herbal spiciness. Light spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, prune, caramel, molasses, toast, toffee, earth, and herbal on the finish for a bit. Nice balance and complexity of flavors; with no cloying sweetness at all. Fairly dry on the finish surprisingly. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a creamy and slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is insanely well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Dangerously smooth to sip on. Overall this is an damn nice doppelbock! Nice flavor balance and complexity; and surprisingly smooth to sip on. Really enjoyable stuff.

Malt heavy brew including caramel toffee, dark fruit, rum, vanilla. A pretty decent eisbock.

Bottle from mein-biershop.de. Deep golden color with small white head. Aroma of molasses, caramel, toasted malt, brandy. Taste, syrupy, caramel malt, bread, honey, notes of fruit, alcohol. Too much on sweet side for me.

0.33l bottle from local supermarket, Monfalcone. This one is a quite nice looking orange-brown beer with a quickly fading - almost completely fading actually bubbly off-white head. It smells sweet and sticky, some clear sweet alcohol, rum, roasted nuts and boiled down concentrated plums. Oh, that's quite punchy! It has a average big bubbled carbonation level and a oily to sticky texture. A good amount of raw alcohol in this one, it's sweet but not directly sticky. Also, there is some clear burned caramel flavors going on here. Long lasting and warming finish in this and I get a peppery almost burning and boozy feeling om my tongue in the aftertaste. Not something you chug down if you're thirsty, but actually not all that bad! I'll remember this one for a while. 20.05.2012

Brown bottle holding 33cl of beer, best before 4th Apr 2009, drank 9th Dec 2008. Poured into a Duvel glass. Amber, reddy/orange in colour, clear but no head, not even a collar. Looked like a glass of fizzy pop. The aroma was of sweet oranges, marmalade maybe, and toffee. Interesting but not beery in my opinion. The alcohol is obviously at the front of the taste and appears towards the end of the taste too. Inbetween I got oranges (like the aromas) and a sweetness which I found reminded me of toffee apples, but with a strange dryness too. Too sweet and the lack of a head, un-beery look along with its fruity smell doesn’t do it any favours and the 11% just masks its shortcomings.

Total Wine & More, Chantilly 11.2oz ($3): Pours a pinkish amber color with a fizzy dissipating head. Aroma is obviously a lot of malt, with some licorice and a hint of booze. Taste is surprising. I thought that this was going to be way more sweet, but it is actually pretty moderate. Granted, I am drinking this mostly cold, because I feel the alcohol creeping up, but this is much better balanced than I had expected. Hops provide only the slightest hint. Body is thick and syrupy. Alcohol is present, but less in the taste than in the residue that is left in the mouth. Interesting, and much better pulled off than I could have hoped.

0,33 l. bottle in to a snifter. Very nice clear, deep amber colour with a white head that faded to a thin ring around the edges of the glass. Massive malty aroma with caramel, marzipan and alcohol. Heavy sweet taste. Full body with a thick texture. Flat carbonation, long lasting sweet, malty and alcoholic finish. Not exactly a favourite for me, however it gives warmth in a pleasant manner on a cold winter evening.

9/II/2012 - 33cl bottle from Gradi Plato (Roma) @ home - BB: 7/X/12 (2012-115)

Clear dark amber beer, aery small off-white head, dissipates immediately, non adhesive. Aroma: caramel, overripe banana, port, orange peel, alcohol. Smells like it's been aged for 5 years already. MF: good carbon, full body. Taste: overripe banana, marzipan, amaretto, sweet caramel, some fudge, green banana peel, little bitter. Aftertaste: sugary, caramel, bit metallic, some alcohol but in general the alcohol is pretty well hidden.

33 cl bottle @ Gastropub Tuulensuu, BBE 27.01.2013
Aroma is sweet with malt. banana, some alcohol and plastic glue. Flavour is rather strong on caramel. Also some toffee, sweet malt and alcohol. Sticky stuff. Good, I was expecting much worse.
