MN Ratebeer Winter Gathering, January 29, 2011. This is a winner. Opaque orange color. Sour aroma with lots of yeast. Good sour flavor with more yeast and oak. Not as sour as Cantillon, but I thought I was drinking a lambic. Very good palate and the sour fix I needed.

Bottle shared by Kan, thanks! Poured a cloudy pale gold with a white head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma was quite funky with note of barnyard and horse blanket with a hint of slightly acetate sour fruits. Flavor was much more sour with nicely acidic fruits with a hint of funk in the finish. Sour fruits were slightly acetone in the finish as well.

Bottled 750ml @Pikkulintu
Hazy orange color, small steady white head. Sour, grapefruity, Cantillon-like aroma. Medium-bodied. Very fruity, sour with goose- and cranberries. On the background nice sweetness. Extremely balanced, this is a good blend. Cantillon dominates, but Jambe-de-Bois kicks some additional fruityness in.

(Bottle, 0.75 l, at Pikkulintu) The beer poured orange and cloudy. Its head was small and white. Aroma was quite Cantillon Gueuze like. There was sourness, fruitiness, grapefruit and vomit. Palate was medium bodied and dryish with medium carbonation. The taste was mostly like the one of Cantillon Gueuze with added fruitiness. The flavours I found were fruitiness, wood, grapefruit, sourness, hops and bitterness. Aftertaste was sour and fruity. Even though Jambe-de-Bois was almost completely drowned by Cantillon lambic the parts that remained added nice flavours and aromas. Nice blend.

750ml bottle @ Pikkulintu, Helsinki

Interesting mix of two styles, but lambic dominates the taste heavily. Hints of sweetness but can’t really taste the tripel in it.

750 ml bottle shared with Greg, Ruth, DC and the bar in the presence of Mr. Obama and his secret service (fundraiser, apparently). Cloudy straw color, small white head. Aroma of barnyard, dust, lemon peel. Taste resembles a very sophisticated geuze! Very nice example of a wild ale, exactly on style. I wonder what Jean v.R thinks of this one??

75cl Bottle @ Poechenellekelder, Brussels: Pours hazy orange with a creamy white head and lacings. Lovely nose of young Cantillon lambic. Funky; fruity, apples, wood, hoppy and quite a lot of brett. Crisp, tart and dry. Smooth. Nice one
