2014 vintage bottle: Tart lime, farmhouse funk, oak nose. Cloudy orange, brown wispy layer of sediment near the top, medium head. Tart lemon, oak, lime. Very subtle sharp cheese. Medium body, easy carbonation. Delicious, not overly tart.

09.05.2018, 0,75l bottle (1990 vintage) sampled @ 1420 "The great geriatric geuze get-together" tasting:
Small fizzy-creamy mediumlasting head, slightly cloudy. Aroma is dry mineraly, old cork, old cellar, minerals, alcohol, wet paper, unripe banana, sawdust, old glue, bark, grass. Taste is slightly dry sour-ish, citrus acid, hay, oak, minerals, sorrel, old dusty cellar, berry skin, sawdust, wet paper, green apple peel, unripe berries. Medium bitterness, dry sour-ish dusty mouthfeel with a tiny fizz. Interesting, but that's it...

375mL bottle shared by Vtafro on 8/13/16, unsure of exact date, but is said to be from the ’80’s. Wine cork full insertion, with no cage. Fill is good; mid-neck.
Deep copper-orange, good clarity, with a small film of white bubbles that show low retention.
Very earthy, somewhat funky (horseblanket, sweat, cellar, must) nose is fairly well integrated between various acids and does show a touch of brett even. Seems fairly lactic, with a hard, yogurt/cheese rind-like character that is somewhat softened by a honey-caramel sweetness itself being a bit stale/oxidized.
In the mouth, it’s sweet again, with a strong honey-like backbone, with notes of oxidized caramel and bits of simple sugar. Quite fruity and oaky, with strawberry, apple and lemon notes leading to a bit of sour acetic character and ending moderately lactic, acidburn lingering. Fairly well-balanced, quite easygoing, but with enough acidity to signify a lambic. Carbonation is light, but still apparent, giving a frizzante-like character. No alcohol noted. Interesting, and in strong condition for its age, but nothing terribly compelling here and a bit sweet/saccharine-like at points.

Small sample from bottle in the Beer Geeks bus from Vleteren, apparently 28 years old? Yallow color, hazy. Aroma’s: sour, wood, tannines. Flavor is sour, woody. Light bodied, enough carbonation. Just a good gueuze, hard to believe this was that old.
