“a stout of great contention”
We are not the harbingers of truth as some may suggest but it may indeed be argued that our brewing philosophy is tantamount to a dessert with a bellicose past. How, you may ask, would a brewery determine a likeness to hard-coated custard? Our response is simple; it’s all in the power of history, and of course, the extra finesse needed to top off a contentious treat with definition.

Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours very dark with a slight light tan head. Stron custard/vanilla aroma. Medium body with foamy carbonation. Beer cannot taste like crem brulee. No. Wrong. How did they do this? Wild stuff. It’s just c-b beginning to end. Wowser.

Grabbed a bottle after going curling for first time. This puppy smells exactly like the name. tastes of vanilla and cream. nice carbonation andbeauty of a beige head. However, really sweet like having a decadent dessert not something i could drink a lot of.

Bottle. Shared with shrubber85. Black brown with a small thin head. Strong caramel vanilla aroma followed up by chocolate and coffee. Creamy full bodied mouth feel. Flavor was strong sweet vanilla with a bit a coffee and caramel. I’m not usually a fan of anything sweet, but I really enjoyed this.

Bottle. Is this really beer? Tastes and smells like Crème Brûlée... notes of ice espresso makes the taste a little more interesting. I bet this beer would be top class with some dessert pairings. A little too one dimensional on its own.

Draught at the Aldgate. Huge caramel and vanilla nose. Sweet and cloying, way crazy, but with a decently bitter finish. A whole lot of fun. Insane dessert beer, great with vanilla ice cream in it.

Pitch black color. Big, big creme brulee, vanilla, toffee, chocolate, burnt raisins in the nose. SWEEEEEET mouth of vanilla, toffee and chocolate. A true dessert beer. Alcohol well hidden. Lingering vanilla finish.

Sampled at the Boise tasting 1/16/10
Appearance: Poured black with a med sized tan head
Aroma: Strong butterscotch aroma, vanilla, chocolate
Taste: Strong butterscotch, chocolate, vanilla, sweet malts
This was very different tasting because of the strong aroma and taste of butterscotch. But it was a nice palate cleanser at the Imperial Stout tasting.

Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Indeed the aroma of creme brulee. Caramel, milk and hopjesvla. Sweet hopjesvla flavor. Creme brulee if you with also comes close. Milk chocolate and lactose. Toffee. Alcohol. A bit too much if you ask me.
