“a stout of great contention”
We are not the harbingers of truth as some may suggest but it may indeed be argued that our brewing philosophy is tantamount to a dessert with a bellicose past. How, you may ask, would a brewery determine a likeness to hard-coated custard? Our response is simple; it’s all in the power of history, and of course, the extra finesse needed to top off a contentious treat with definition.

Bottle shared by Joes. Opaque pitch black color, small to medium sized beige head. Smell malts, lightly chocolate and vanilla. Taste is a super sweet dessert of caramel with vanilla. Oh no, this is not my thing at all.

At the boctown robinson, nice place. Big & black with a chockoe moose head. Oh, the smell of this stuff is over the top in beautiful candy. Creamy olfactory will not let go of my nose. Sense is of a very refreshing and attractive cany, smooth alky candy. First taste is not as good as expected considering the smell, wew. Fairly flat from the start. Not impressed on the palate. Just a little milder than whisky soaked cndy. Ues a very high alky candy, overall.

Bottle. Clear deep brown liquid with small to medium tan head. Aroma of vanilla, sugar, fudge, licorice, caramel, toffee and milk chocolate. Massive amount of vanilla. Taste is medium to high sweet and light bitter with notes of vanilla, caramel and fudge. Medium to full bodied with low carbonation. Waay too sweet and lots of vanilla. Just too much.

(Draught at Ölbaren, Copenhagen, 26 Jan 2013) Black colour with creamy, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with chocolate, vanilla and crème brulée. Malty, roasted taste with notes of chocolate, crème brulée, vanilla, milky coffee and a balanced roasted bitterness in the finish. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. It’s a bit one-dimensional, but the crème brulée character is quite impressive. Excellent beer.

Refrigerated brown bomber set on the counter for a while and decanted and then poured into a snifter. Pours black with dark brown hightlights very small beige head. Small ring of lacing, light body, creamy texture, low carbonation, and wonderful creme brulee aroma. Taste is creme brulee (vanilla, caramel, and some milk), roasted malt (mostly dry dark chocolate with some coffee), some butterscotch, and hint of alcohol. If the taste matched the wonderful aroma this would have been great.

Bottle @ NK Saluhall. Black colour with an off-white head. Sweet caramel, vanilla aroma. Sweet caramel, sugar flavour. Very sweet. Almost too sweet and too little vanilla. Might have been good together with a real crème brûlée but on its own, even sharing one feels too much.

Bottled:
Pours black with a small head. Intense aroma of chocolate, fudge, coffee, vanillla and nougat; it’s like sticking your nose into a box of chocolates.Smooth mouthfeel. Sweet flavour of fudge, chocolate, vanilla and some roastiness. Alcohol bitter finish. Pretty good, but gets a little bit too much in the long run.

Draft at Beer Temple. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is massive, Massive vanilla, absolutely intense! Coffee, chocolate and caramel are there but the vanilla dominates so totally. Flavour is over moderate, but not too sweet and light bitter. Full bodied with soft carbonation.
