22 oz bottle poured into a tulip. 2014 bottle. Mostly clear golden orange with a finger of off-white head. Lots of tiny floating sediment throughout. Aromas of pumpkin, cinnamon, some booze. Smells pretty much like regular Pumking, rum comes out subtly after warming up awhile. Tastes of pumpkin, some apples, caramel and brown sugar, a bit of cinnamon, booze, subtle rum. Rich sweetness. Medium body with a dry and warm finish.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 11/6/2014. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy golden orange color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Slight spotty lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of pumpkin, cinnamon, gingerbread, nutmeg, clove, brown sugar, pie crust, spiced rum, light vanilla, light oak, and herbal/spice earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of bready malt, pumpkin, spices, and light-moderate rum barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of pumpkin, cinnamon, gingerbread, nutmeg, brown sugar, pie crust, spiced rum, light clove, light vanilla, light oak, and herbal/spice earthiness. Minimal herbal/spice bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of pumpkin, cinnamon, gingerbread, nutmeg, brown sugar, pie crust, spiced rum, light vanilla/oak, and herbal/spice earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of bready malt, pumpkin, spices, and light-moderate rum barrel flavors; with a great malt/spice/barrel balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly crisp, and slightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent barrel aged pumpkin ale style. All around great robustness, complexity, and balance of bready malt, pumpkin, spices, and light-moderate rum barrel flavors; and very smooth to drink for the big ABV. The barrel aging seemed to mellow out a lot of the flavors that make the base beer amazing for me; but is otherwise very enjoyable all around.

Sample at the Badge-Whore Bowl (OSU vs AL) tasting on 01/01/2015. The beer is a clear dark copper-amber color with a thin white head that evaporates quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of pumpkin spices, malt and rum. Full-bodied with flavors of vanilla, spiced rum, nutmeg and caramel malt. The finish is sweet with a rum and pumpkin spice aftertaste. Enjoyable beer all around.
