Saint Petersburg is a fabulously full bodied chocolatey, malt flavours with coffee finish combine to produce a great Imperial Stout.

Cask at the Sheffield Tap. Black pour with a thin tan head and broken lacing. Malty yeasty aroma with a spicy bitterness in the flavour. Sadly though, I think that the influence of the alcohol is too great. It burns a little and leaves a strange aftertaste. A decent beer that needs more work to be great. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma of smoked hay/grass and a little cocoa. Flavour lies a bit too much on the smokey side but does have nice elements of strong burnt malts and some cocoa.

Bottle. Nose of cola, berries, some chocolate and cherry. Body is a bit thin, with too much carbonation. Very balanced, high drinkability. Not really imperial, but tasty.

Tap at the Euston Tap - 20/09/12. Listed as 7.4% ABV on their chalk board. Mid black colouration with dark brown edges in the light. Medium bubbling tan head. Dark roasted malts at the fore of the nose, oats, molasses and coffee on the nose. Roast malts dominate the taste allied to a little chocolate, oats once more and licqourice. Medium bodied with slightly spritzy carbonation, a little too much for my liking. The alcohol is well disguised.

500ml bottle from Thornbridge Brewery Shop - a beautiful looking ink black body, with a thick white head that lasts all the way. A toasty aroma of coffee and burnt toast, follows with a taste of rich dark chocolate and espresso, with a warming after kick of alcohol,. Nice oily mouthfeel, creamy kick and finishes with a lasting after taste. Is this the best bottled ale Thornbridge do? Got a bottle of Bracia to follow!

Bottle, 14C. Black with a large tan head that laces well. Aroma of mocha, berries, plums, a little smoke. Silky texture, low carbonation. Full bodied, but round and quite mellow until the finish. Lovely mouthfeel. Some coffee astringency and firm bitterness at the end along with some smoke and salt. Only slightly sweet chocolate and some singed sugars, less fruit than suggested by the aroma. Luxurious and very drinkable.

Bottled 500ml. -from Jodl Graz. Dark brown (almost black) coloured, medium sized brown head, pleasant mild chocolate nose with whiff of chocolate. Roasted malt, dark chocolate and licorice with notes of wood and alcohol. Bitter, moderate alcoholic and tar like finish. Nice IS.
