Saint Petersburg is a fabulously full bodied chocolatey, malt flavours with coffee finish combine to produce a great Imperial Stout.

500 ml bottle. Pours dark brown with a massive brown head that stays really long, maybe even too long. Aroma has coffee, roasted malt, roasted bread and peat. Head is really huge, so it even feels that some of the aromas might get stuck there. Taste has a lot of coffee and dark chocolate - turning into hop bitterness and a long, dry, bitter aftertaste. Major characteristic of this beer is its burnt biter bread taste. Somewhat out of balance because the body is not full enough to pose a sufficient counterweight. Body is medium, with lower viscosity than any other imperial russian stouts. When it warms, it gets better, gains more depth - extra layers of roast and coffee emerge.

Bottled, 0.50l. Pours murky, almost black with medium sized creamy light brown head and fair lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, licorice, dried fruit and alcohol. Taste starts with smooth and rich roasted malt and coffee, while following is sweet chocolate with alcohol notes. Mouthfeel is spicy and peppery with pretty heavy bitter finish and long aftertaste. Full body, creamy texture and average carbonation in palate. Interesting herbal hoppy stout...

A black beer with a big, dense and beige head. The nose is roasted, coffee, strong milky sourness, some herbs and old lether sole. Not very sophisticated aroma. Taste is strongly roasted, coffee, nice sweetness, some lether and liquirice. The end is quite long, dry and roasted. Medium+ bodied, smooth carbonation, plesant to drink. Quite simple IS, not very exhilarating.

Sampled from a 16.9 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with brownish highlights and a large soapy brown head that lingered forever and left good lacing. The aroma was malty and toasty with notes of smoke, vanilla and almost bacon. The flavor was roasty and smoky bacon, vanilla, malted milk and had a pervading bitterness. Medium length bitter roasty and smoky finish. Moderately full bodied. Too roasty and smoky for my taste but a solid brew.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Wilbur’s Fort Collins. Pours a Pours a deep brown/black appearance with a dark brown head. Big anise, smoky, toffee, burnt chocolate, rich aroma. Fairly roasty, burnt malty, dark chocolate, caramel, mild fruity, black licorice flavor with a light bitterness on the finish. Not all the sweet which is nice for a change.

Pours black with a large, light tan head.Nose shows roasted malt, nutty and toasty characters, soft spicy and grassy hops. Also some oats and soft booze.Flavours mainly concentrate of roasted malt and booze. Some of the spicy hops transfer through, leading to a very aggressive bitterness in the finish.Carbonation seems a little aggressive too.

Drucken på cask på bishop Gustav. Skummar rejält, ljust beige skum, vätskan närmast kolsvart. Söt, bränd och besk. Bubblig/krämig i munnen. Saknar lite kropp att hålla ihop smakerna med. Lakrits, mörkchoklad, bränt trä och molass. Bra men lite kantig.

På fat. Smak och doft av humle, malt, choklad, plommon, torkad frukt, toner av vanilj. Fyllig med tydlig beska med smak av bitter choklad och tobak. Krämig, välbalanserad och smakrik.
