To a relaxed end of the day in the beer garden, the Hofbräu Schwarze Weisse is like the traditional decorative costume jewelry (‘Charivari’) adorning a pair of lederhosen. Gently refreshing with a velvety-soft finish. The amber dark color, the creamy head and a fine malty bouquet will delight seasoned grown men and everyone else who prefer a wheat beer with a strong character.

Bottle, 0.5l. Hazy reddish / brown pour with one finger off-white head. Average retention, some lacing. Nose is grainy, herbal, slight wine notes, a bit sulphur. Thin body, light texture. Mostly soft carbonation, but nice and prickly on the tongue. Taste is moderately bitter with some tart notes. Aroma is grainy, slightly roasted. Herbs, wheat. Grassy. Faint sweet fruity notes. Some metal acidity. Drying mouthfeel, mildly bitter finish. Overall, good dunkel. Decent.

50cl bottle from Viking Pub at Viking XPRS. Pours almost clear brown (at least it ended up like that when the girl in the bar did it) with a medium, beige head. Wheat and banana with hints of dark fruits, yeast and malt. Fruity with a light acidity. Fairly refreshing and easy to drink.

Pours opaque dark brown from the bottle and leaves a rich, creamy head. Aroma is bread, banana, caramel. The malty, roasted flavors dominate the taste up front, while the finish trends yeasty. Some sourness. Overall mild and uneventful. Body is lighter than most dark Weizens. Okay.

Many thanks for this beer to kevnic2008. Piwo o zdecydowanym korzennym i mokrym zapachem drewna. Pianak ladna oblepiajace moja szklanice Erdingera. Kolor bardzo metny sporo tzw farfocli na dnie, barwa ciemno bursztynowa. Smak sliwek wegierek lekko suszonych, droche daktyli i figi nawet nieco strucli marcepanowej i domowego piernika z rodzynkami. Dobre konkretne monachijskie piwo.
