Het was in 2012, ter gelegenheid van de 150ste verjaardag van de brouwerij, dat de Chimay 150 voor het eerst werd gebrouwen, in een beperkte oplage (150.000 flessen). Inmiddels opgenomen in het vaste assortiment van de brouwerij.
Chimay 150 is een sterk, verfijnd en verfrissend blond bier met een evenwichtige smaak, een bloemig aroma en aroma's van gedroogd fruit en specerijen. Het heeft een alcoholpercentage van 10%. Het wordt geproduceerd met een mengsel van twee hopsoorten, Saaz en Hallertau Mittelfrüh: twee hopsoorten die bekend staan om hun grote kwaliteiten en finesse. De unieke smaak is ook het resultaat van een geheime specerij die aan het recept werd toegevoegd.

330ml bottle. (As Chimay Green). Pours a hazy orange gold with a large, frothy, long lasting, off-white head that leaves thick curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of bready caramel malt, honey, apricot, Belgian yeast, cardemom and floral hops. Sweet flavour of bready caramel malt, Belgian yeast, candi sugar, orange zest, coriander and floral hops in a dry, mild bitter finish. Medium body with a sticky, oily texture and soft carbonation. Complex and delicious. Excellent.

New Chimay tower at the Abbey. First time having the green. A bit spicy, fruity, floral. Fantastic. So smooth. Inter about twenty five minutes from the Scudetto.

Bottle. Just slightly cloudy gold sporting a big white head. Aroma of yeast, honey, coriander, vanilla and citrus fruits. Taste follows aroma plus malts, oranges, grains and some herbs. Dry finish. Moderate bitterness. Medium to strong carbonation. Balanced and well-hidden alcohol. A little bit like a Wit/Strong Belgian Pale Ale hybrid that took some time to grow on me. Nice.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Aroma is strongly sweet. Taste is an interesting mix of witbier and Belgian strong. 10% is hidden relatively well. Unfortunately forgetful though.

Little bottle. Cloudy amber, offwhite low lace. Spicy, earthy, leather and citrus nose. Medium to full foamy body. Dry mineral, light belgian funk, phenols, almond, wood and leather sticks on the tongue. Cirus foam retronasal. Would have preferred it to be less dry.

Bottle from Foodery: pours gold with white head. Aroma is candy sugar, yeast, ambiguous fruitiness and a flower. Taste is sort of sweet but pretty dry for the abv level. Quite yeasty. Not overly complex, but nicely done.
