Another great brew from my Unibroue 12-pack sampler (January 2005). Poured a hazy golden colour with a foamy-fizzy white head. Retention was good, but less then most of Unibroue’s beers. It left some bubbly lacing. I could also see yeast particules float around. Aromas were of pears and alcohol. Then the alcohol went away and I could smell floral scents and cloves. The taste was fruity (on the citrus side) and had hints of spices and vanilla. The middle seemed on the acidic side but finished kind of dry. A very, very easy drinking beer, even at 9% ABV. Smooooooth.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café Wallingatan, Stockholm) Golden colour with huge, white head. Fruity, spicy nose with notes of tropical fruit, citrus, grass and coriander. Fruity taste with citrus, mango, pineapple and slightly spicy hints of coriander. More than medium body, fairly sweet with a gentle spicy bitterness. Fresh and well balanced with alcohol well hidden. Very nice.

The beer is gold-colored with a fizzy head that disappears quickly and entirely. There was just about no lacing. All of the Unibroue beers seem to pour better out of the 750ml bottles than the small bottles. This was a small bottle from the sampler pack, so I’ll try to pick it up again later and revisit the appearance, particularly. Anyway, the aroma was the high point of the beer. There’s plenty of spicy wheat notes in the aroma with alcohol, fruit and bread coming along as well. Unfortunately, these flavors don’t all come through in the flavor. The wheat flavor should be amped up because the Unibroue yeast tends to dominate over much. The feel is nice and sparkly with lots of good carbonation.

Bottled@EBF2008. Orangeish golden colour with mediumsized white head that vanishes quite quickly. Aroma is fruits, some alcohol, mild herbal notes as well as some slight vanillalike notes. Flavour is being quite much the same. A rather bodied beer, which was a bit too sweet for my tastes.

Another great one from unibroue, even though their from quebec, a bruins fan worst enemy, anyways, really good belgian strong ale that this brewer is quickly becoming famous for. the way the abv is hidden from the taste is maybe the best thing about it, anyone who like BSA’s will know the taste but there are a few out there that have the abv bite that can ruin a good beer, not this, smooth as silk

355ml bottle. Barely hazy bright gold. White head dissipates to just a lacing. Medium bead. Nose has spice, lemon rind, red berries and sweet dough. Complex fruity sweetness with some alcohol warmth. Finish is very clean given the level of sweetness - right at the end there’s a hint of bitterness.

Bottled 330ml. -Slight hazy orange coloured, medium sized white head, fruity spicy nose. Lively carbonation. Moderate malty, yeasty, very fruity and mild spicy with notes of alcohol and orange peel. Spicy finish with touch of apricot. Again nice Unibroue beer.

750mL bottle - pours a beautiful hazy golden with a medium white head. Aroma is yeast, citrus, apple and wheat. Flavour is a smooth balance of citrus, wheat, and light fruit. Alcohol is well-hidden. Very nice.
