Belgian-Style Imperial Wheat Ale

This sweet and full-bodied white beer packs a serious punch with the taste of spices, malt, fruit and yeast.
Every sip is a memorable moment, like the historic day when French explorers met with the First Nations people who came out to greet the Don de Dieu, the ship carrying Samuel de Champlain.

From Dec 2007

I got this bottle in a trade with Wasatch. Thanks John!

Brr...it's really cold outside so I wanted to try something new that had a bit of strength to it. Here goes.

This pours from 12oz bottle a hazy light gold with a large and firm head of foam. The final pour and it turned totally cloudy(not a bad thing, in my book) and the foam "sticks" around for the entire session. Plenty of lacing too.

The smell is all fruity and nice. Notes of apricot and some malt followed by a bit of hops and some spice.

The taste has a tarty flavour of apricots up front with some very noticeable honey flavour. After another sip, I'm getting some spice like pepper and some wheat. Pretty good tasting but I think the honey is overdone and kind of reduces the drinkability factor for me. Yeah, I'm not a big fan of beers that have a honey presence.
It has a medium mouthfeel, the carbonation is fairly high, and it finishes on a fruity note. The alcohol is hidden very well for the abv. Not a bad brew.

Thanks again, John!

Beautiful triple wheat ale, tons of apple flavor and white white flavor (not in a bad way), yeasty/lively too.

Funny I had never reviewed this before, I swears I had drank plenty of these during the Vancouver days. Any given BC liquor store, Unibroues on the shelves, pick them and pay a few bucks and at least you were a little more sophisticated than the Molson’s crowd getting their two-four’s in for the weekend. Sure, not the same as a full fledged "craft" beer but these were the early days, times were heady, life was young and good and beer snobs were still kind of a thing in the future. Like that dork who, in London England last year, decided to go into sprawling detail about the history and meaning behind the revitalized "Gose" style. Like, dude, fuck, I’m here to draink and eat piss-ah wid’ me mates, fook yur lecture. Great that Gose came back, but silliiously, it ain’t my vibe. So. I crack open the cap on this one, having found it in Montréal at least a good decade before I had drank it last. And serioumigioulously - why is they’s so obsessed with presenting this beer and parading the nine-percent nonsense around? But this, when poured properly, is essentially perfect in the glass with growing head and a glowing orange body, rind and carbonation, like weeo0w sometimes people do get it right. The aroma is heavy coriander and swamp funk but in a good way - balanced and rough, like a Jackson Pollock, you get a good feel of the ingredients alongisde a heavy yeasty finish. The flavour is heavy coriander with some wheat funk, and yeasty sharpness, damn it’s good. Crisp finish. Another beast of a beer from Unibroue. Sure, sometimes they miss the finesse and some of the lager-weynies might get all weak in the kness with this stuff but I love it - rough, harsh, messy, an honest expression of a beer. And damned drinkable nonetheless, especially on a fine saturday night when The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is on the DVR. Sahwheat fo shizzle. Give it a spin.

Hazy golden with a white head. Spice and wheat forward with some tropical fruit notes, too. Medium bodied. Finish has a nice lingering spice. Solid.
