Spécial De Ryck is the flagship beer of our brewery, created in 1920 and brewed according to the original recipe ever since, using only the purest ingredients. It's a amber coloured speciale Belge ale with subtle maltiness, a fruity flavor of delicate hops and a slightly bitter aftertaste.

Location: Draft at Moeder Lambic, 8/11/10

Aroma: Light fruit on the nose, a bit of caramel malts, some light earth
Appearance: This beer pours an amber color with a slight haze
Flavor: The taste is decent fairly light, some caramel, hops, a bit of bitterness late
Palate: The body is fairly light, it is a highly drinkable beer, a touch thin
Overall Impression: Overall, I thought this beer was OK but nothing special. I wouldn't rush back for it, but I enjoyed it well enough.

Bottle at De Hopduvel . Pours a bright amber with a huge fluffy beige head. Light fruit aromas. Near medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is peach/apricot/citrus with light yeast/spice. Quite pleasant.

Hazy amber color. Dry Ale, with some caramel, watery and light final astringency. Not special.

Amber-orange color. A gusher whose head settled down quickly to almost nothing. Slightly earthy, sweet aroma, spicy; with Belgian yeast. Dry flavor, with some fruits; yeasty. Not much happening really. Slightly sour, with a strong bitterness at the finish. OK, but not so interesting.

On tap at In de Wildeman. Clear amber colour, off white head. Faint aroma of toasted malts, nuts, a hint of grain. Flavour is dry, a little nutty, caramel, biscuits. Fine but lively carbonation, dry yeast bitter finish, making this a nice refreshing Belgian ale. So far the best Belgian Amber I’ve had.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Best before 02/09. Pours with a large white head and a hazy golden body. Aroma of honey dough and pear. Taste is cornmeal, yeast and some spices. Kind of watery tasting. Lightly fizzy and dry.
