The 2007 Anniversary Ale features prominent usage of Cascade hops– the signature hop used in Sierra Nevada’s most popular product, Pale Ale. It is an American Style IPA with a big, fragrant pine and citrus hop aroma balanced by the sweetness of two-row pale and caramel malt. It finishes with an additional Cascade dry-hopping creating a big hop aroma Sierra Nevada fans will look forward to.

Bottle w/medium head. Aroma is hops and a bit of bitterness but not overpoweringly so. Pretty decent overall even though I am not a huge IPA fan.

Bottle. Reminds me more of a bitter pilsner then it does a IPA. Had great color. Deep golden color, almost an orange color. Taste, well, since I’m a malt fan I would have to say it’s ok. I would recommed it to IPA lovers but I probably won’t drink again.

Bottle. Orange light brown color. Grapefruit, toffee and marshmallow in the aroma. Nutty bitter, citric, perfumed flavor with hints of raspberry. Too perfumed to be really enjoyable, lacking in balance, but still an OK beer. (7 3 6 2 12 = 3.0) 2007 bottle, tasted feb 25, 2010. Orange color. Grapefruit, pineapple and mango in the aroma. Soft oily hopbitter flavor with mango and pineapple. the hopbitterness has eased down, but the beer has developed a both soft and prickly character.

From Aug 2007

Purchased at Poplar Wine & Spirits in Casper for ~US$9.00

Pours from 12oz bottle a clear amber with a good head of foam that shrinks quickly leaving some spotting near the center of my glass and it has some lacing.

The smell is hop dominated at first but further whiffs in, I can smell some good sweet malt...nicely balanced nose.

The taste follows the nose to a T. Nice hop presence that is slightly grassy, slightly citrusy and put them together and they make for some good hop bitterness but...this IPA does not neglect the malt at all. Good malt sweetness, along with some bread, balances the hops *very* well and the end result is a very tasty, drinkable and yeah, *balanced*(did I mention that yet ;^) IPA that I can and will enjoy more of soon. There are plenty of other IPAs out there to enjoy if I want a good(read Big) hop kick. The more balanced ones....they're kind of a rare breed in Casper so you'll excuse me if I show some prejudice to this example by Sierra Nevada. I think it's very good stuff!

*Old rating, best before 04/08/10. 2009 Edition. The beer is floral, fruity with a bit of malt. Mild, slightly bitter, nice-round, malty.

Bottle 355 ml from 2009, at Delirium Hoppy Loft. Pours amber with off white head. Slightly hoppy and caramel aroma. Caramel hoppy flavor. There is a chance bottle wasn’t in the best condition.

35,5 cl bottle @ Kahdet Kasvot. Rated on 16.10.2009
Aroma has hops, some caramel, gooseberry bush and biscuits. Flavour has gooseberry bush, nettles, some biscuits, caramel and hints of resin. Good, but there’s something about the hop profile I do not like. The same thing occurred with Southern Hemisphere Harvest.
