The 2007 Anniversary Ale features prominent usage of Cascade hops– the signature hop used in Sierra Nevada’s most popular product, Pale Ale. It is an American Style IPA with a big, fragrant pine and citrus hop aroma balanced by the sweetness of two-row pale and caramel malt. It finishes with an additional Cascade dry-hopping creating a big hop aroma Sierra Nevada fans will look forward to.

Draught@SBWF2007. Deep golden colour, mediumsized white creamy head. Aroma is fruits, wood and quite much nectar. Also some grass and mild spicing. Flavour is much the same in a good balance. Also some nuttyness is to be found.

Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival. Clear amber, minimal head. Salty grapefruit aroma. Crisp and very dry, freshly hoppy with clean mouthfeel and slim body. Salty and hoppy with long bitter finish. Typical Sierr Nevada-style with it’s very clean flavour profile.

Surprised to see this listed as an IPA and not an APA. Frankly, I’m surprised it’s not just aliased to the regular SNPA Draught listing. Not that there’s anything wrong with the beer, far from it, it just did not strike me as overly hoppy. Certainly no moreso, or marginally moreso, than the Pale. Same, rather monotonous cascade hop nose and flavor, with some floral notes and light grapefruit/resin. This one did have a stronger malt sweetness, with slightly more toasted notes. Towards the middle/end of the glass, the sugary, malt flavor fully overtakes and drowns out the hoppiness, leaving only light bitterness to chip at the sweetness. Flawless though, and with no alcohol notes.

Bright golden-amber. Cascade aroma - wood - with earthy, slightly brownsugary malt. Straightforward woody hop notes, hints of breadcrust and caramel. Moderate bitterness. UPDATE: I have found the 2008 edition a little more bitter and a little brighter, and therefore updated the score from a 3.3 to 3.6

(Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival 2007) Clear golden to copper color, white to tan head. Huge citrus cascade hoppy scent, I like! Big bitter hoppy taste, almost too much, but not quite. Scent is better than taste though. Medium mouthfeel, big bitterness. Hoppy aftertaste.

Bottle. Caramel and pine hops aroma. Amber with giant off-white head. Caramel malt with a slow crescendo of pine hops to finish. Nice controlled hoppy flavor - not too strong. Very nice.

Deep, amber orange color with a large rocky beige head. Fragrant, floral hop aroma up front with a touch of citrus. Tangy malt flavor with a huge hop explosion on the tongue! You can taste the Cascade hops immediately. Full-bodied with a long dry hop finish. this ale is a hop lover’s paradise!

Bottle. Orangish brown color with a pretty nice sized beige head. Sharp aroma of citrus peels and pine forest. Flavor is fairyly hoppy, and if you want to teach someone what Cascade hops are all about, this would be a good tutorial. Malt presence is subdued and could be much stronger to balance out hops and give the mouthfeel a better fullness. As is, things come across as pretty watery and thin. Better than

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a vibrant amber color with a very large yellow-white head. The aroma was strong floral and fruity hops. Very distinct hops on the nose. The flavor was sour, bitter an had hint of nutty malts that quickly become overwhelmed by crisp - almost gritty floral and fruity hops. The beer was drier than I expected. The finish was very long and hoppy. Very nice.

Bottle. This was a pretty decent brew in my mind. They’ve taken their regular Pale Ale and brought it to a new level. Nice fully citrus aroma, with a great amount of hops in there. Flavor is full of cascade hop goodness. Very crisp finish and quite an easy beer to drink.
