The 2007 Anniversary Ale features prominent usage of Cascade hops– the signature hop used in Sierra Nevada’s most popular product, Pale Ale. It is an American Style IPA with a big, fragrant pine and citrus hop aroma balanced by the sweetness of two-row pale and caramel malt. It finishes with an additional Cascade dry-hopping creating a big hop aroma Sierra Nevada fans will look forward to.

Have had it both draft and bottled, draft=3.2, bottled= 3.6. A hazy amber beer with a huge lazing beige head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of hops giving it notes of grass and grapefruit on a malty back ground. The flavor is sweet and again very hoppy wigh notes of grass, straw, grapefruit, and oranges, as well as light notes of spices and alcohol, leading to a dry and very bitter finish.

On tap @ O’Brien’s filling the glass with a clear copper liquid and forming an off white head. The aroma is mild with lightly roasted malts and bits and pieces of hops. The taste starts with sweet malts and also bitterness coming from pine hops. By midway a tasty pale to Munich maltiness and slight nuttiness enter the picture to create a nice mix of flavor notes. It seems to end a bit thin with lingering mild hoppiness. Refreshing brew.

Good to medium off-whited head, fast gone over pale orange-amber beer. Hops, noble hops - lots of it, but held in check. Some caramel(ized) sugar, but not much else. Extremely remarkably British RAIB-like taste - fine frangipane, rosewater, noble hops, extremely delicate. VERY un-American beer! Bit of human sweat retronasal. Light to medium bodied, slick, but not syrupy. Remarkable, delicate beer. Big thanks to Dirk of Kulminator fame!

Sierra Nevada’s anniversary offering is a clear dark amber color with a medium light beige head that burns off slowly. patches of lacing. Aroma of piney hops, citrus and earthy malt. Medium-bodied with pine, floral hops and doughy malt flavors. The finish is hoppy with a malty and lightly nutty aftertaste. Pretty enjoyable overall.

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 28 Sep 2007) Copper colour with frothy beige head. Malty nose with dark fruit, toffee, nuts and balanced amounts of citrussy hops. Fruity taste with notes of orange, apricots, citrussy hops and pine needles in the finish. Superb balance, lots of impressions but nothing takes over. Quite brilliant.

350ml bottle from Utobeer. Copper colour with thin beige head. Lots of traditional SN hop aroma. Really rather lovely. Floral Cascadey and piney grapefruit aroma. Some sweet malt in mouth, bit of candy sugar. Nice and hoppy on finish, a bit metallic on the carbonation. A bit more like an intense SNPA with some extra hop. Good.

Draught@SBWF2007. Deep golden colour, mediumsized white creamy head. Aroma is fruits, wood and quite much nectar. Also some grass and mild spicing. Flavour is much the same in a good balance. Also some nuttyness is to be found.
