Corked bottle. Amber color, pours a huge head. Caramel, flowers and a hint of mango in both aroma and flavor. Just a hint of citrus and flowery hops. Well balanced, with the characteristic slightly yeasty finish. Nice one.

One of two luxury ales celebrating the 175th birthday of De Koninck brewery some years ago, the other being the Gusto 1833 Golden Blond. Thick and stable, creamy, light beige, sticky head, dark bronze colour with copper hue and fierce sparkling. Strong, fruity aroma of redcurrant, candied cherries, apple cider, orange zest, grassy hops, liquorice, cognac, ginger, iron; sweetish and spicy, liquorice-like onset with strong, mineral-like carbonation and a very faint saltiness, smooth and resinous mouthfeel, caramelly malt base with a hint of walnut, restrained sweetness but still a little bit sticky in the tail, otherwise a dry finish with soft bitterish, herbal hops, a good deal of warming, but not astringent alcohol and a drying effect of the strong carbonation. The better one of the two, in my view at least.

@Secret Sinterklaas, thanx !

Tastes like a stronger and fuller version of the Bolleke. It’s nice, but I wouldn’t drink it again.

Bottle: Literally reddish-amber coloured, big creamy and rocky off-white head, hazy, but carbonation still visible, dried fruits and sweet caramel in the nose; moderate sweet flavour, medium bodied, quite soft; sweet fruity and slightly nutty finish with a delicate vinous-alcoholic aftertaste. Really good....

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks beerandbeyond. Hazy dark amber color with a beige head. Spicy and fruity sweet aroma with some caramel and alcohol. Sweet flavor with malt, yeast and fruits. Medium-bodied. Boring.
