12oz can, courtesy of TheBaldWizard, pours with a dark chocolate colored body that supports a thin tan head. The modest aroma offers up thin dark fruity esters flowing into milk chocolate and nutty rich roasted coffee. The taste is nicely thick and deep as a flood of dark roasted malts and dark to milk chocolate rush the palate with reckless abandon. Just beyond those notes are thin layers of sweet dark fruity esters and a murmur of spicy black licorice. This slides into the finish smoothly with a pleasing load of roasty depth. The big ABV is well hidden. Great sipper with plenty of balance and depth.

Keg at BD AGM. If pour jet black with a small tan head. The aroma is sweet, sticky, toasty, juicy, slick, oily, chocolate cake and treacle. The taste is slick, dry, bitter, toasty, charred wood, grainy, burnt toast, roasted malt, leather, umami, cocoa and dark chocolate with a lingering dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Not bad.

Sample at the Columbus Microbrew Festival on 09/15/2013: Pours black with a medium tan head that diminishes slowly. Patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Full-bodied and smooth with flavors of roasted coffee, dark chocolate and malt. The finish is sweet with a roasty malt aftertaste. Decent overall.
