Our take on the smooth, easy drinking ambers poured in cafés across Belgium, Rare Vos (Strange Fox) takes its name from a tavern near Brussels known for cycling contests, pigeon races and outstanding ales. Pouring a brilliant copper with a creamy white head, this bright, beguiling beer is sensational to session, and pairs wonderfully with mussels, frites and other pub fare.

355ml bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours a bright amber with a very generous head. The nose has intense ginger cake. The taste has ginger biscuits and toffee. The palate is medium bodied with a tangy texture and a long elegant finish. Overall, a good beer somewhere between an American amber ale, a Belgian Dubbel and an English bitter. Interesting.

12 ounce bottle into signature tulip glass, bottled on 11/13/2012. Pours moderately hazy and cloudy orange amber color with a nice 2-3 finger fluffy off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Spotty foamy lacing clings down the glass, with plenty of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big banana, pear, apple, orange peel, light caramel, clove, pepper, coriander, floral, bread, and yeast earthiness. Fantastic aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast notes with malt and spices. Taste of big banana, pear, apple, orange peel, clove, pepper, light caramel, bread, coriander, floral, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of light fruits, orange peel, clove, pepper, caramel, bread, coriander, floral, and earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic flavor balance and complexity of fruity/spicy esters with malt sweetness and spices; with zero cloying flavors after the finish. High carbonation and medium bodied; with a lightly slick, foamy, and crisp mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic Belgian pale ale! Great flavor balance and complexity; and extremely smooth to drink, even at high carbonation. A highly enjoyable offering.

Flaska på Nya Tröls. Bärnstensfärgad, högt skum. Kola, karamell, russin, honungsmelon och fruktig belgisk jäst i doften. Smaken går i samma stil, men sötma är återhållen. Lätt kropp, kort eftersmak, lättdrucken. roligt och annorlunda öl som jag tycker var mycket trevligt.

Pours a red/brown and leaves a cloudy red body with a one finger white foamy head, slight carbonation is seen rising, the aroma has the Belgian yeast up front, cooked apples in the background only after a bit of warming
taste is sharp slightly sweet through Belgian yeast and the apples combine with some bubblegum sort of flavor, palate is light to medium, slightly sessionable, carbonation is adequate, overall, decent for the style, unsure if I’d come back to as a pleasure, but maybe to re-review

Smells yeasty with some wheat profile. Pours gold. Has a soft, light belgian ale taste at least. Floral hops are present in some degree. Aftertaste has some sweetness ad some sourness, but a very light floral leave in general. I warmed up to this beer as it went down. On tap at coles.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle shared at home. Pours a murky amber with a thick off white head. Fruity aroma. Yeast and orange peel with a mild bitter finish.
