Similar to Belgian-style Strong Pales, the Tripel is often characterized by its lighter color, spicy aromatics, and complexity. Brother David’s Triple is brewed with copious amounts of pale malts as well as Belgian candi sugar, giving it a deep golden hue, medium body and rich mouth feel. The dense head gives off aromas of candied orange peel, clover honey, pears, and a hint of freshly mown fields. The fruity esters and spicy hop flavors balance the phenolic characteristics leading to a peppery, citrusy finish.

Bottle. Golden colour with an off-white head that quickly diminishes. Aroma is sweet, caramel, alcohol, yeast. Flavor is yeasty, caramelish, bready and fruity. The final is yeasty and sweet with a god duration. Carbonation is medium. Body is high.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Dagan’s place. Thanks Hasnen & Zita for this bottle. Slightly hazy golden-orange. Sweet candy-ish fruity aroma with some alcohol. Sweet flavor with some candies, bubblegum, some fruitiness and lots of alcohol. Medium-bodied, kinda oily. Too sweet and alcoholic.

Hazy deep amber beer. Short lived white head. Sweet malty nose. Softish semi dry palate. Typical tripel sweet malts. A trace of orange. Dry finish with a pinch of spice. Not bad but there is something lacking here - not quite joined up. 3.0.

Bottle share at Leighton’s Stratoflat. Almost clear gold beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and semi dry. Thin sweetish malts, light cream. Good dried fruits. Zippy orange - lemon. Spice. Airy semi dry finish. Decent.

Bottle:Deep golden, a bit unclear, small off-white head, solid sweet fruity-bisquity nose with an alcoholic touch; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, accompanied by a delicate tartness, medium to full bodied; slightly lingering fruity-bisquity, but mainly tart and alcoholic finish. Not very impressive...

12 ounce bottle from Vintage Cellar. Pours a clear amber color with a thin fizzy white head. Good head retention. Aroma of bready caramel malts, faint nuts and faint spice. The taste is fairly strong spice, caramel, apples, pears, bread, bitter hop finish. Medium-full bodied, smooth, slight heat, low carbonation. Straightforward but good.

Bottle at O’Connor’s, Uppsala July 2012. Clear reddish/brown with a small head. Both the aroma and taste were sweet with toffee, dried fruit, malt and yeast. Some alcohol in the taste. Not bad but a large bottle was a bit too much.

(Bottle, 0.355 l, at Hilpeä Hauki, 20120523) The beer poured copper coloured and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness, orange, honey and malts. Palate was medium bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, honey, fruitiness, alcohol, sweetness, hops and bitterness. Aftertaste had honey, sweetness, malts and low bitterness. A decent attempt to brew a tripel and they almost succeeded. The end result was too unbalanced.

Bottled @ home. Clear amber color, short head. Aroma of slight flowery hops, green apple, alcohol. Lacking a bit yeast character and spices characteristic of a belgian triple. Taste is quite sweet, slight alcohol burn. A bit dominated by the alcohol.

22 oz. bottle. very filtered, transparent dark amber look. no head at all, flat like carbonation. Nose is exactly as advertised and mirrors the taste. I would have to characterize this beer as thoroughly average. There is nothing exemplary about it. It’s not a horrible beer by any means, but it is not significantly different from any other Belgian Triple I have sampled.
