12 ounce bottle. Deep reddish brown color. Small creamy beige head. Rich toasted malt nose. Hints of dried fruit and earthy, resinous hops. First sip brings bittersweet toasted malt and lot’s of spicy, peppery hops. Make no mistake, this is a real hop bomb. Notes of vanilla, raisins and roasted nuts come to mind. Finishes dry and bitter. A big brew with a serious bite.

Syrupy consistency. Puors red copper with carpet lacing and creamy head. Aromas of thick, caramel malt, cereal and booze. Hops in finish. Some bitterness, some sweetness. Pretty good beer. Tap at Hopcat.

Enjoyed this one. Pours a clear, dark copper, with minimal head. Roasted grain aroma. Flavor is a roasted grain/malt with some hop notes underneath. Seems like a good winter warmer kind of beer--something to drink around the fireplace.

A hazed dark amber ale with a thick lacing mocha head. In aroma, a nice musty vinous malt aroma, barley wine like, with smooth grassy hops, very nice. In mouth, a nice roasted vinous malt with grassy piney hops, silky mouthfeel, alcohol warmth, very nice.

Bottle pour into tulip. An interesting red hue. Citrus aroma; grapefruit and orange peel taste; just enough hops and alcohol on the finish. I will probably pick up a 4-pack when this is availabe each year (I think it is a seasonal...I don’t see it regularly).

Draft and then later bottle. Poured a clear reddish color with a small off-white head. Aroma was some caramel malts, earthy hop character. Flavor had a touch of hop character with pine notes. Very drinkable for 8%. Love the label.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 11/11/2018. Pours crystal clear ruby reddish orange color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings to the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, papaya, mango, melon, citrus peel/zest, light pepper, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, papaya, mango, melon, citrus peel/zest, light pepper, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, papaya, mango, melon, citrus peel/zest, light pepper, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and sticky/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 8%. Overall this is an awesome imperial red ale. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/resinous/drying finish, not overly aggressive. Awesome Simcoe/Cascade profile. Very juicy and fairly dank/earthy hop complexity; great malt balance, not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. A really enjoyable offering, and impressive style example as usual.
