Cast at The Grand Assembly, Marlow. Poured a clear dark amber colour with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is nutty, yeasty. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a smooth, red berry fruit, nutty, herbal, woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Cask at The Falcon (JDW), Wycombe. Amber-red with a beige head. Reasonable condition. Lots of sweet caramel. Some summer fruits. Twiggy, earthy bitter finish. Grew on me. Not bad.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours a red-brown with moderate sized off-white head, nice retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel malts, red fruits medley, light spice and citrus notes from the hops. Taste is a little odd. Has all the notes from the aroma with a zesty bitter finish but not sure it all melshes together. Part ESB, part red ale but lacks the best bits of both. Not that its a bad beer but I was hoping for better.

Bottle online from Beers Of Europe. Pours a hazy ruby/rust colour with a huge thick foamy off-white head. Aromas of red berries, jam, toffee, caramel and doughy bread. Taste has the same notes as detected in the aroma. Very fruity, lots of red berries, jam and toffee. Malty with low bitterness and very subtle tangy hops on the finish. Medium body, soft carbonation on the palate and sticky mouthfeel. Very good beer i will definitely be having this again.

Full pint on cask, shared with Finn at Playhouse (JDW). Spotty lacing from a steady beige head, a deep ruby shade to a dark brown body. Smell of earthy malts, and ripe citrus. Malt-fruity flavours, mild caramel, biscuit, and hints of leafy hops. Bittersweet, semi-dry finish. Decent British bitter version. (Colchester 23.11.2021).

Huge thanks to Erzengel for that one! Bottle looks good. Beer in the glass dark brown, small head. Starts dry malty, some herbal notes, some hints of wood. Finish more balanced, some interesting hoppy notes as well. Not bad.
