Very nice hazy copper and bronze body with a thick, three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of grapefruit, pine, earth, resin and a very pungent and nice canned fruit smell - like peaches, pears and pineapple, all with that viscous syrup that’s all fruit juice - nice! Full-bodied; Strong and pungent resin and pineapple flavour up front with a large alcohol flavour, some hop bitterness and a light grassy flavour at the end. Aftertaste is purely sweet, resinous and showing some good alcohol notes throughout, but the discrete hop flavours are fairly muted. Overall, a nice and powerful Imperial IPA with a lot of fruit sweetness - that shows well, but a bit different than most other beers in this style. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Spec’s in Dallas, Texas on 01-September-2015 for US$1,78 sampled at home in Washington on 07-November-2015.

650 ml bottle purchased from the local H.E.B, Austin TX. The stamp on the bottom of the can reads Best Before: 9/3/2015, very fresh. Mason jar shows a copper color, lasting head retention. Aroma is mild at best, light caramel, pine and caramel.

Flavor is surprising for a DIPA. Super thin body that is borderline watery. The ABV is masked but no real hop punch to speak of. Sweet malt, to much caramel, maybe honey. I guessing Crystal 60. Muddled overall. I was really hoping for better at this price point, damn it. Ok we have inconsistency here or are people lying about this brew?

Bottle. Amber beer with a cream head. Grapefruit and light caramel aroma. Caramel and grapefruit flavor with light sweet malt. Medium bodied. Decent bitterness. Grapefruit and caramel linger with light pine.

Copper color. Aroma of mild hops. Flavor is bitter with citrus and pine, but balanced by a sweet malt body. Finish is bitter hops and sweet malt.

Can. An unclear, golden colored beer with a small, off-white head. The aroma is sweetish, with apricot notes and resins. The flavor has a light sweetness, a bitterness level to deal with it, some maltyness and resiny, piney hop flavors. Full body and a pleasant carbonation level. Lasting fruity and bitter finish. Sure a decent one, not too bitter and not too sweet. Wouldn’t mind repeating this one. 140613

This is a little understated, was expecting a much bigger kick from both the hops and the ABV. That said, this is part of this beer’s charm, very smooth and drinkable for a DIPA. Lots of hop resin, almost sticky, clingy head with lots of lacing, more hop resin on the finish.

Pours deep clear deep gold into a tulip. Bright white head with medium retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Sweet caramel and resin aromas. Hot resin and pineapple front to back and into the slightly stale finish.
