Bottle from the Waitrose on Gloucster Road. Pours gold with a white head. Aroma is mildly spicy, with a touch of grass? Near med body. Flavor is mildly noble, somewhat bready, and finishes lightly bitter. Urquel it’s not, but it will do when the alternatives are tasteless macros.

500 ml. bottle. Jan 09 date. Light grassy aroma. Medium dark gold color with a fine white head. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Rather bready with not all that much hop. Finish is dryish, and a little bitter. Note: I don’t think this is Staropramen Ležák (Premium Lager) 12°. My notes on that don’t match those for this one very well. Course that was another day.

Green 500ml bottle, under it’s Co-Op label: BBD Dec 15. Poured at home in Jan 15. It was taken in a blind tasting with a Pivovar Herold brewed beer and a German Memminger brewed one: this came second in the scores behind the Memminger offering. This Pilsner had all the typical attributes of the style: clean, clear and light golden in colour with the usual fading white head. Crisp on the palate but odourless almost, pleasant blend in the mouth, hops lead with a good underbelly of light maltiness the balance out the bitterness and dryness of the hop content: decent.

Green 500ml bottle: BBD 31 Jul 15. Poured at home on 17 Jan 15. Not overly impressed, and beers from Pivovar Herold before and liked them. Looked your normal Pilsner/Lager, golden, light and bright: on top the regular unlasting snow white crown. Aroma was corn syrup sweet and so was the taste with very mild hints of lemon grass. It was taken in a blind tasting with a Staropramen brewed beer and a German Memminger brewed one: this can out the worst score wise. --- Beer merged from original tick of Co-op Premium Lager on 17 Apr 2020 at 15:57 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 4 | Flavor - 5 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 5. Original review text: 440ml can, 4.6% ABV, made in France: BB 8th Apr 2021. Drank at home on 17th Apr 2020, during the virus lock in. Clean and clear light golden body, short lived white head. OK, bog standard Euro fizz with nothing to really talk about, aroma or flavour wise. Refreshing but not much going on.

Clear golden. White head and lacing. Aroma of continental hops, hay and malt sweetness. Taste is a bit dissappointing, but still better than a standard eurolager. Short aftertaste.

500ml bottle from Scotmid at the end of the road. Pours clear dark gold, no head. Can smell cooked corn from about two feet away. Raw cereal, little else. Taste is astringently bitter. Not great.

Bottle at Craig’s. Pours clear pale straw with thin white head. Aromas are classic lemon and hay. Taste is light bitter, light sweet, little herbal note. Light body and thin texture. Finishes crisp. Pretty bog-standard stuff. OK.

bottle from Waitrose Sodford. Clear golden yellow, mid-sized white head. Bitter-sweet, lovely Bohemian Saaz hops, grainy malty base, a lovely Czech Pils.

bottle, from Waitrose Sidmouth. Clear golden colour, white head. Malty, medium-bodied with shy hints of apple and a touch of cheap-ish hops. All right, but not really convincing. Good malty body, but the hops let it down tremendously.

Bottle(@Waitrose, Cromwell Road, Kensington):Golden, small white foamy layer, no carbonation visible, pale malty to bready nose, shy peppery hops in the background; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, malty base detectable, light bodied; slightly lingering lemony-hoppy finish with a pale-malty touch. A bit weak, but still an authentic czech Pilsener…

Golden beer, looks pretty, clear gold, thick white head, rising bubbles. Aroma is of Czech pale malt. Yes sweetish Czech malt aroma. Almost takes me back to Plzen. Quite evocative and distinctive aroma. Pivovar Herold normally make pretty decent beer. This is the same. It’s a pale malt led Bohemian pilsner. Slight touch of puke on the aroma, but really quite bitter and hoppy on the finish. Wow, it’s like being back in Plzen for the RBESG it is so reminiscent of some of those beers. Its decent. And authentic at least. Good biting hoppy finish. Can’t fault it and enjoyed it. Good lemon on the finish.

500ml bottle at Chris o New Year tasting 08/09. Clear gold, thin white head. Bit of yeast on aroma. OK pils, not particularly interesting, but no real off flavours.
