Crisp and aromatic, this boldly-hopped American ale balances notes of citrus and tea-like earthiness from American hops with a subtle German malt base.

Tap at RJ. Aroma mostly hoppy, fruity, exotic. Clear amber colour. Stable white head. Taste has high bitterness and quite lots of hoppy flavour. Fruity, berries, grassy. Light biscuity caramelly malty backbone. Overall remains rather dry, thin bodied, easily drinkable, long hoppy finish. Very good. Well balanced.

35,5cl bottle from Coop outside Firenze. Pours clear golden to amber with a white head. Rather mild hoppy and fruity aroma with malt, some floral notes and hints of honey. Medium sweet with a solid malty base and nice hoppy flavours. Finishes nicely bitter. Nice and easy to drink APA somewhat on the sweeter and maltier side, but balanced and nice.

Bottle. Deep copper orange color with big head. Aroma is citrusy, spices, caramel. Taste is citrus, a bit zesty, a bit caramel and pine, grapefruit and forest tree, overall rather light, but not watery. Very easy to drink, quite clean taste. A bit underwhelming though, I expected more. Still ok.

Draught @ OT. Pours hazy deep golden with a rather small frothy white head that leaves some sparse sticky lacing on the glass while dissipating. Smell is malty and slightly fruity with caramel, grapefruit, grass, pine, resin and lemon zest. Taste is sweet, bitter, slightly malty and tiny fruity with bread, caramel, grapefruit, mango, grass, pine, resin and lemon zest. Mouthfeel is round, slightly sticky, tiny astringent and medium bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with bread, grapefruit, grass, pine and lemon peal. Solid old stale PA... --- Beer merged from original tick of Headwaters Ale on 07 May 2015 at 01:43 - Score: 6

From a 355ml bottle on 26/3/2015. Pours a clear golden with a smallish head. Has a pleasant light fruity aroma with some honey in the mix. In the mouth, there’s some sweet biscuity malt and citrus fruit (sweet orange, tart/sour lemon) but it’s the big, dry, piney, herbal bitterness that defines this. Hop wise, this is very much in IPA territory. Medium bodied with average carbonation. This is a cracking, very flavoursome hop forward APA.

(bottle, 35.5cl, 5.1% abv) Clear, deep golden colour with a firm, medium-sized and slightly off-white foamy head. Fresh hoppy nose with resiny accents, as well as fruity notes of grapefruit, lemon and a whiff of passion fruit, backed by a hint of biscuity malt and toffee. Moderately bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a modest carbonation. Delicately biscuity (cara-)malty base with present resiny and grapefruity hops; dry and moderately hop bitter finish with a mildly malty backbone and a resiny and slightly fruity hoppy aftertaste. A decent Ale of reliable quality but also nothing groundbreakingly new. 28.I.15

Pours a bit unclear blonde. Smell is sweet ( honey style) with some bityer undertone. Taste is rathet sharp, sweet malts ( again a mild honey aspect) with only a hint of hoppy bitterness underneath.

Shared bottle at Mi2 at Cardinal 09.02.15. Clear golden. White head. Aroma of American hops, bitter grape fruit and pine. Taste of dried fruits, marmelade, pepper and wet cardboard. Dry mouthfeel and dry, almost dusty, bitter aftertaste.
