13th June 2008. Initially tastes quite medicinal. After a little palate adjustment this smooths out. Semi dry finish. The spice ultimately domniates but doesn’t completely overpower.

Location: Had this one a few times over the last year or so...I prob had about a half dozen 12 oz bottles of this during the winter of '08/'09, and I'm basing this rating off those bottles

Aroma: Smells very spicy, some malts, cinnamon
Appearance: Clearish amber copper color
Flavor: Sweetish, but just like the nose, this is DOMINATED by the spice, tastes a lot like an autumn beer, a pumpkin spice beer
Palate: Medium body, an Ok mouthfeel
Overall Impression: This is certainly an interesting beer. One of the spicier beers I've ever tried, you could say that it's overly spicy, but I can see what they were trying to do, and I give them credit for that attempt.

The guy who rated this right before me called this "Honestly the worst beer I've ever had"...then gave it a 1.4, so he's clearly not tried enough beer...I mean have you ever had a Beast Ice? a Hurricane? a Bud Light? a Magic Hat #9? I'll take this one over most of the pale yellow crap beers out there!

Bottle 355ml.Clear medium amber orange color with a average, frothy - creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, moderate to heavy spicy, cinnamon. Flavor is moderate sweet, moderate to heavy bitter and spicy - peppery with a long to average duration. Body is medium to light, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. [20081128]

Bottle. Pours a clear pale amber color with a small longlasting off-white head. Has a slightly spicy malty and nutty caramel aroma. Fruity malty slightly spicy nutmeg flavor with some hints of caramel. Has a swetish malty spicy finish with hints of nutmeg in the aftertaste.

12 fl oz bottle, courtesy of fonefan. Pours clear and golden deep orange with a diminished white head. Ginger and cardemomme densely spiced aroma. Solid spiced in the flavour too with the same ingredients. Has a mild roasted to vague smoked note. Medium dry and somewhat perfumed spiced. Ginger bitter into the finish.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Clear amber golden with an off-white head. Distinct aroma of cardamom and ginger. Medium body, dry caramel but otherwise completely dominated by Speculaas spices. 281108

Bottle, The Offie, Leicester. Reddy bronze colour, minimal head. Big cinnamon clove hit in the nose. .....yeah i dig it. Wateryish palate, slightly peculiar, but this almost works, despite falling well short of being anything special.. Spicy , yeah spicy. Can certainlyl understand why this may not be to everyones taste. Could no way drink more than one, but might not turn another down if it was washed up at my feet one day...

Bottle, 5.5% at GBBF08. Strange spicy aroma. Clear chestnut colour. Small tan head. Good sweet cookie flavour. Brunkage, whatever spice that is. Quite a lot of it, but I like brunkager and it is balanced OK by malt, alcohol and a tad of smoke. Hint of alcohol or hop bite in the finish, probably paint thinner, but I can live with that.

Bottled (from GBBF, had at Chris O Post GBBF Tasting). Amber colour, small head. Aroma is cinnamon, almond and some rather sweet malts. Flavour is nutmeg, cinnamon and some mild buttery and spicy notes.
