We took all the delicious beans that normally go into this complex and special stout, and let them sit in freshly emptied rum barrels for half a year. What came out is beyond what we could have hoped for - high notes of vanilla and spiced rum that are backed up with a rich, chocolaty body with hints of coconut, and a smooth, barrel-aged finish that is uniquely tonka-forward.

Can at home. Black with lasting, beige head. Roasted with loads of tonka, cinnamon, caramel, some light vanilla, chocolate, a bit of coconut. A bit heavy on the tonka, as there is tonka in it. Slightly almondy marzipan-like finish.

(Can, 0.33 l, at Arde, 20220305) The beer poured oily and black. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had tonka beans, sweetness, rum and more sweetness. Palate was full bodied and sticky sweet with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, cough mixture, wood, tonka beans, clove, ginger and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. A brew that was hard to drink.

33cl can. Thanks Vastactiv? Near black color. Spiciness, overly sweet, cinnamony aroma. So sweet. Cloy , sticky. Why, this is a disaster.

Can at Ardes residence, Helsinki. Color is very dark brown with small brownish head. Aromas and flavors: Chocolate, some Cacao, rum, spices, roasted malts... quite spicy. Cinnamon?

Draught @ Ølhus København, Helsinki. Super sweet, intense with tonka notes, barrel, roasty malts, vanilla, cocoa and syrupy notes. Quite heavy and sweet. Too much tonka for my taste.

33cl can. A black beer with a tan head. Aroma of intense sweet dark chocolate malt, tonka beans, caramel sauce. Taste of sweet strong dark caramelized malt, chocolate, tonka, vanilla, bourbon. Quite nice!
