Bottle from Total Wine in Spokane. Nearly black pour with a modest tan head. Aroma is sweet from the barrel treatment with coffee and roast. Big boozy taste with more barrel sweetness and underlying coffee and chocolate tones. High abv is noticeable, but not overwhelming. A sipper for sure.

It is always a good situation to locate a new imperial stout when traveling. This 2018 vintage 12 oz bottle was found in Chicago while there for a baseball home stand. I’ll be delivering into my ABGB snifter this evening. Dark as night and thick as the raging sea (actually, got that off the label) with a decent presence of medium brown foam. The scent is delightful, full of promise. I find berry, chocolate and sorghum. The taste, even better than the nose. Cocoa, vanilla, strawberry, wood, grain and booze. Lightly sweet, roasty and moderately bitter. A slow burn as it goes down. Mighty fine imho.

Pour is a black with a tan head that finally comes around. Aroma is some dark roasted malt with some of the barrell showing up. Not a huge amount but it's there. Flavor is a thicker than I thought with a roasted malt with some molasses and alcohol with the barrel flavor coming out after the swallow. This did not seem like a thick heavy Impy stout but the flavor said otherwise.

Pretty good stuff. There's a heavy molasses component that normally I'm not a huge fan of but in this case it doesn't workout too bad. Beer is fairly well balanced bittersweet pretty good drinking for the kind of beer that it is

Bottle thanks to Rob. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is cocoa, rum, oak, roast. Medium body, roasted malt, cocoa, boozy, nice sweetness, enjoyed this.

32oz growler pours with a deep dark body that supports a one minute light mocha colored head. The aroma offers up dark roasted malts, chocolate, thick malty sweetness and a dash of coffee. The taste is pretty rich and approaches being nectar like midway. I get malt sweetened dark roasted coffee, dark roasted malts, some chocolate and molasses. To midway that nectar sensation is the modest rum note hitting an upwelling of molasses, dark roasted malts and a coffee note. It picks up a mild oak note that’s only vaguely spicy. Solid sipper as the barrel essence and the beer are balanced.
