Paradigm Shift is a Enhanced Red Ale. Enhanced with what you may ask?... Shed loads of Bravo & Calypso hops in the boil and for dry hopping, the ale gets it’s red colour and maltiness from high levels of Caramalt used in the mash. This is not your average red, it is brewed to challenge your conceptions of what a red ale is. This is not nutty, bland & watery but big & bold; malty but with a serious hoppiness to back it up.

Many thanks for this Ale to Jacek Wigier (wineofdreams@gmail.com). Piwo o czerwono miedzianej barwie, spora piana ale szybko sie redukuje. W zapachu cytrusy, chmielowa zywica. W smaku zywica, wrzosowy miod rzemieslniczy, karmel, palony karmel i odrobina cytrusow. Fajne.

Hazy red beer, white head. Zesty, rye aroma. Flavour is citrusy hop, rye, some malt. Not amazing but a nice example of a typical red ale.

33cl bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring. A beer that divides opinion based on recent reviews - I think it’s rather good. A bright amber pour with a thick cream head; fruity, caramel aroma; fruity taste with some spicy caramel and prickly hops that tickle the palette; then a drying finish and a linger herbal bitterness blending with more toffee.

Flasch: Hazy, billions of floaties visible and no head to speak of, amber coloured; herbal hoppy and sweetish toasty nose; moderate dryish bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied and quite soft; lingering hoppy and honeyish-malty finish. Not really great, but quite well drinkable…
