At first sight, Lunar Interference is the exact opposite of what a Berliner Weisse is. We combined a big, complex malt bill with a traditional brewing method, a mixed-culture fermentation, and nearly a year of aging in one of our original, 80 year-old cypress wood lagering tanks at our Starkeller brewing facility to create this uniquely dark beer. Lunar Interference emerges nearly black in color with layers of bittersweet chocolate, cocoa, and coffee flavors emerging on top of a vibrant, lactic acidity. Lunar Interference is unfiltered, hand-bottled, and bottle-conditioned to allow the flavors of the beer to continue to develop and evolve in the bottle.

Bottle. Chocolate malt, hay, and dry orange peel aroma. Dark brown with smallhead. Mildly sweet berry, chocolate malt, moderately sour lactic acid, and mildly bitter hay flavor. Good body. Interesting.

Sampled from the bottle at Minnesota ABR 2018. Pours a clear deep amber brown with a yellowish brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has some dark wheat notes an some sour dark fruits underlying. Flavor has sour berries and dark wheat with a bit of sweetness.

Autumn Brew Review 2017. Almost no carbonation on this beer. Dark amber color. Light to moderately sour. Berry is very light, some roasted malt quality, make it reminiscent of a sour English style stout. The light coffee and cocoa blend together to add to the roasted flavor. Unusual and good.
