Draught in the Brewpub on 20th Jan 2014. Pours a misty yellow / orange colour with a full white crown. The nose was a blend of grassy notes, yeast and mild maltiness: the taste followed those lines too. This isn’t a crisp, clean tasting Pilsner, it’s got some flavour and attitude compared to most mass produced German Pilsners I’ve come across. Body depth was good, it wasn’t watery or weak feeling. The wife didn’t like hers very much, so I had some of that one as well.

Draft @ Hops and Barley, Berlin.

A gassy pilsener. Slight sharpness to it. It’s very fresh tasting with good level of bitterness and a drying finish.

Draught at the brewpub. Mild hay aroma. Cloudy yellow colour. Small white head. The flavour is of fresh grain, barnyard. Slightly rough bitterness. Rustic, but a bit unclean.

Tap at the brewpub, Berlin. Pours clearish yellow with a fine, white head. Nice biscuity malt aroma with light corn and straw. Medium sweet flavor, very biscuity, with light and crisp straw bitterness, and some fine grass. Medium bodied with fine, smooth carbonation. Crisp, sweet finish, crispy biscuits, a little white sugar. There is a nice, crisp hop bite in the finish with some lasting, rich and sweet biscuits. One of the better pilseners I’ve had in Berlin.

Beer No. 40 on my tour through Austria, Germany and Denmark.
On tap at Hops & Barley. Yellow/golden coloured, small white head, fresh hay in the nose. Moderate malty, hay and light caramel with short but pleasant hoppy finish. Simple and refreshing.
