Half Pint, cask at Three John Scotts (JDW). Off-white head to a deep golden coloured body. Spotty lacing. Smell of mid-sweet fruity hops, some malty sweetness to it. Mixed malt-fruity taste of peach and caramel. Bittersweet finish. Smooth mouth feel. Satisfying (Hull, 25.11.2015).

Cask at the Victoria Inn, Rugby, 04/06/14. Very lightly hazed golden with a well appointed off white head of bubbles. Nose is orchard fruits, apple, straw, toffee apple, bread dough. Taste comprises vanilla custard, green apple, bread dough, faint hops, light citrics. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close with light bitterness. Mediocre golden blonde, NOT an APA - where the fugg(les) are the hops ? Just cos the brewer calls it an APA doesn’t mean it should be added as one!!

Cask at the Post Office Vaults, Birmingham. Poured a clear amber colour with a thin broken head. The aroma is malty but weak. The flavour is very bitter and slightly fruity, but the aftertaste isn’t pleasant. This beer doesn’t really work as an American IPA for me. Time to revisit the hop selection.

On tap @ the Haymarket. Pours golden, no head - a friend then bought another pint and there was a head, so benefit of the doubt on this one. The nose is of light citrus and hay. The taste has more of the same. The palate is medium bodied with a tangy texture and a clean finish. Overall, solid but not worth having more than 2.

Cask @ Haymarket, Edinburgh 021012
Amber clear, thick white head, good lacing
Aroma - faint citrus and pale malt, little aroma
Taste - light citrus bitter hops, mainly pale sweet caramel malts, soft flavours, soft zest, slight butterscotch malts, easy, alcohol not noticeable
Palate - soft carb, medium body, oily palate. Finish - soft sweet pale malts, bit of pale biscuit, fairly bitter linger
Overall - OK golden ale but not hoppy enough to be an APA
