Intense bitterness balanced with the sweetness of its malt.

Bottle - Grain and some malt on the nose. Clear light amber with a quick disappearing head. Malt with an odd bitterness ending with an alcohol finish. Very odd would likely call this an ESB.

Can. Gushes when opened. Pours a hazy orange with a fleeting tall white head. Fruity sweet aroma. Slightly sweet, no real hops going on here at all. Slick full bodied. Really needs more hops to balance this.

12oz bottle. Orange-brown-tan, thin head. Subdued aroma, some faint earthiness that is reminiscent of an APA. Watery mouthfeel, tastes old and faded, though I don’t think it necessarily is. Actually not so bad, probably one of the better Mexican beers I’ve had. Somewhat watery, not far from macro feel, but with a respectable enough hop bill. Not bad, but hardly a fine example of the style.

Not a great beer, but honestly the best Mexican beer I’ve ever tried. Weird, semisweet grainy malts team with very piney, very bitter hops, with a moderately dry finish. The malts aren’t exactly pleasant, overly sweet and cheap-tasting, but this bottle still surpasses everything else I’ve tried from Mexico. No telling the age, either-- I’d like to try one of these fresh.

Pours deep amber into a shaker. Off-white head with good retention recedes leaving spot lacing. Caramel malt, roasted nut and hay aromas. Toasted pumpernickel from front to back with a lasting sweet resin finish.

Nice citrus and grapefruit aroma with caramel malts. Medium bodied. Flavor has a full, caramel, citrus hopped flavor. A really surprising pale ale that satisfied the hop desire. Very much in the American Craft Beer style. Tasty.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a red-caramel color with a medium sized foamy tan head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was sour and nutty with notes of cocoa and vague fruits. The flavor was tangy, dryish and biter with notes of cocoa, nut and grapefruit. The finish was long, tangy, sweetish and had lingering cocoa and citrus. Fairly full bodied. Nice.

Can courtesy of Butters at the 12th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering on 9/18/10. Nothing could be more worthy of my 3200th rating. Thanks! Pours a clear golden color with a large white head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of sweet malts, floral and citrus hops with a spicy hop finish. The taste is bitter, leafy hops, raisin and caramel. Pretty bitter. Thin-medium bodied.

Can from Butters @ 12th Richmond Gathering: Oregano, grass, and malt aroma, not strong. Clear copper, thin head. Oregano flavor. Decently hopped, lots of character. Pleasant suprise from south of the border. Good APA.
