Bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty toffee aroma. Fruity malty caramel and toffee flavor. Has a fruity malty caramel and toffee finish.

Sample from bottle at Winking Lizard. The beer pours dark brown with ruby around the edges. Patchy lacing on the glass. The aroma is toffee and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of sweet toffee, caramel malt and chocolate. The finish is sweet with a toffee aftertaste. Kind of one-note but that seems to be the intent. Decent overall.

Bottle courtesy of Geraint & Helen (thanks both!) had this at Merton Beer Festival Mtg at Lynn and Barry’s Wednesday 19th November 2014. Pours dark amber with an off-white head. Well this does exactly what it suggest i.e it is a sweet, sticky very good beery interpreatation of a sticky toffee pudding (its uncannily accurate) however its not totally my thing. A5 A4 T6 P3 Ov11 2.9

This ale poured a nice dark amber colour with a nice tan coloured, frothy head. Scents include caramel, butterscotch, rum and butter, wine, just to name a few. First swig was expectingly sweet but it wasn't as syrupy as thought. Flavors of coffee, rum and caramel with a little bitter aftertaste. Rum flavours on the palate.

330 ml bottle into pint glass, best before 12/14/2014. Pours crystal clear dark reddish brown color with a 1 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, toffee, vanilla, toast, brown bread, light nuttiness, light chocolate, raisin, pear, apple, herbal, grass, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and fruity yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toffee, toast, vanilla, brown bread, light nuttiness, light chocolate, herbal, grass, light fruitiness, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Light earthy herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toffee, toast, vanilla, brown bread, light nuttiness, light chocolate, herbal, grass, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and yeast ester flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and fairly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good English brown ale. All around good robustness and balance of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

500ml bottle: BBD 7th Apr 2015 drank at home for ’pudding’ on 15th Sep 2014. This worked, the Brentwood brewed ’Chockwork Orange’ I had with it did not. I really liked the sweetness of this caramel and toffee flavoured beer it really does remind you of the dessert it is named in honour of. Rich, smooth and almost sickly, but my sweet tooth lapped it up.

New Beer Distributors, NYC 11.2 ounce: Pours dark amber with an off-white head. Aroma is sugar, toffee, and caramel. Taste is not quite as sweet and sticky as the aroma, but still is rather much on the sweet side. Body is light than expected. More drinkable than expected as well. I don’t think I would want to have more than one in any case.
