Draft at Taps Beer Bar, Changkat, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear light amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is fresh zesty citrus hop, some yeast. The flavour is moderate bitter with a big tropical fruit, grassy hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Pours dark amber with a large, lasting head.Nose shows tropical fruit, resinous hops and lots of sweet clean malt. Textbook new-world pale ale.Similar amount of malt upon tasting, very sweet, lots of caramel. The hops are not forgotten, with more tropical fruit and resin. Finishes with a bold bitterness that can’t quite keep the malt in check.Carbonation could be higher to dry out the finish a little.

Pours a cloudy golden colour with almost no head. Has a lovely powerful aroma which is dominated by passionfruit and floral notes. Begins very sweet, with lots of orange and some honey, which is quickly followed by a reasonably assertive (at least by APA standards) and long grapefruit hop bitterness. A fantastic, distinctive pale ale.

[4/11] Tap. Just hazy gold with a small white head. Aroma of kumquat and grapefruit, a little tropical fruit. Thin bodied. Not much malt flavour at all, a little sourness to go with assertive kumquat bitterness. Tasty and quaffable but a little crude. [3.1][4/12] Growler. Flavours seem better integrated this time and there’s no sourness. Pleasant enough, but really needs some presence from the malt side or punchier hops to stand out. [3.2] [3/14] Can. Hazy gold with a white head. Aroma of passionfruit, oranges, hay. Honeyed hay sweetness, oranges, passionfruit. Dry with a firm tenor-register bitter finish. Said to have been tweaked but seems hugely improved. [3.6] Has become the local beer I buy in 6 packs.
