330ml bottle into glass. Nose is chocolate, malt, fruit. Opaque brown beer with thin film on top. Light and fizzy in the mouth. Finish is bitter with late dark chocolate and even later fruit. Very ’adult’ brown ale.

Props to this beer for its lovely head. The aromas are quite feint but varied, with coffee, chocolate, dried fruit, smoke and peanuts. The taste is something of a blunt instrument initially, with coffee predominant before the alcohold kicks in. There are also notes of chocolate and quite a lot of salt. The palate is slightly thinner than you’d hope, but overall this is a nice effort.

Draft at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Wow, a real English Brown Ale from down under. I'm starting to believe they really do understand us after all :-) Very dark brown pour with lots of froth and lacing, pretty much as expected. Not such a strong aroma but there are hints of all sorts of flavours. There are raisins and caramel dancing on my tongue right now with a hint of bitterness in the aftertaste. Worth tasting and very enjoyable, but not a session ale for me. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From a 330ml bottle on 24/8/2011. Pours an opaque cola colour with a modest head. Has a mainly chocolatey aroma with a hint of berries. Flavour wise, chocolate again dominates, and there is some sugary toffee, along with some nuttiness. Has a nice balancing bitterness. All up, a good beer.

Bottle. Quite a dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of toffee, dried fruit, chocolate, some nuts. Rich and smooth-textured. Tastes pretty much as it smells with a little plain bitterness reining in the sweetness. No complaints, but not very interesting.

Pours dark brown with ruby highlights and a small head.Nose shows chocolate and nutty malt. Big hazelnut praline character. A bit faint though.More chocolate and nutty malt as flavours, also a hint of coffee. Could use some crystal to add some caramel notes.
