Rustic Lager is not Lager reinvented, it’s Lager remembered. Brewed using a blend of our house yeast, with an amber colour from 100% British malt and a dry hop bitterness from Pacific Northwest hops, this 4.5% beer is unfiltered and unfined.
Rustic lager is taking lager back from thin, over processed, industrial monsters and unreliable reinventions, giving you a crisp, refreshing drink without filters or additives.

33cl bottle. Very strange stuff. Neutral watery beginning with hints of wood. Interesting to age a Lager in Wood. Grain, neutral body, easy to drink but no depth. Hints of grainy sweetness with dry wood. Interesting.

Taste comprises grassy bite, soft pale malts, light breads, grains, hint less funk than the nose, apple skin, light dusty fruits. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light bitter edge. Decent lager with some subtle funk.

Keg at Brewdog Canary wharf. A mostly clear golden orange coloured pour with a fine white head. Aroma is semi sweet nutty malts, apple,, mellow cereal, hint of honey. Flavour is composed of light grains, nutty, light honey, some chalk, dried apple. Palate is a little thin, chalky, mellow carbonation,. Not convinced.

Keg at Brewdog Milton Keynes. Pale amber with a white head and a light fizz. Grassy hops against a background of digestive biscuits and brown bread. Decent hop presence actually. There's a very vague hint of funk in the background from the wild yeast, but I'm not sure I'd have noticed if I hadn't have searched for it. Overall it's a fairly decent lager.

Keg at BD Union Square. It pours clear golden amber with a small white head. The aroma is toasty grain, cereal, rivita, brown bread, wood and earth. The taste is dry, toasty grain, rather nutty, cereal, earthy, wood, brown bread, leather and a touch of spice with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Would never have clocked this as OW. Needs a bit more condition I would say. Its fine, but had hoped for a lot more.
