Big decadent coffee and chocolate notes pair wonderfully with the Islay Whisky character imparted from time in
the casks. Bonfire smoke, oily peat and lightly spicy floral hits. Bright acidity and a super dry body mean this roguish beer is delightfully light and easy going for such a big flavourful beer.

Aroma: chocolate, figs, medicinal notes, cinnamon, Taste: Tart, medicinal notes, TCP, Interesting, quite sour, still barrel driven. Rated as laphy fanboy.

Bottle at BBT 11/2023 #2. This is a masochist beer. The peat character, I can understand. I like peat in some contexts and in certain intensities. But here it is combined with a pretty heavy sourness, which is very much out there, without any meaningful further characteristics. This is taking a thing without any understanding a shoving it like a retard might shove a rectangular wooden block into a triangular opening. No finesse here, just bullshit.

BBT november/ 2023. Very dark brown color with beige head. Aroma of chocolate, alcohol, coffee, peat. Taste is very sour, pickled cabbage, light chocolate, alcohol.

Bottle at BBT 12/2023 #2. Malty aroma and taste, strong medicinal notes, chocolate, peat, medium to high sour. Medium to full body, peaty medicinal sour finish. Very unballanced.

At TLVCBF, smallish creamy head, opaque black colour, ara of toasted bread, umami, charred notes, subtle smoke, medium sourness, sweetish dried fruit notes,, char and smoke. Intriguing and hard to define, very very good.

Keg at Brewdog Lothian Road. Pours dark black with a thin tan head. Aromas of Islay whisky, soy, smoke, tar. Taste is sour, whisky, dark chocolate, prunes. Sour smoky finish. Best thing I've had from BD in a while.

Bottle at the 2nd Lockdown Tasting, thanks to Fergus, Watford Tahn 14/08/20. Light black with a decent tan cap that dissipates in time. Nose is smoked malts, spice, tangy dark berry fruits, Islay notes, dusty fruit esters. Taste comprises dried berry fruits, burnt toffee, smoked malts, peated tones, acidic bite, dusty fruits. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a big puckering bite. Interesting and slightly challenging beer ... fun to try but one to share for me.

24/8/2020. Sample courtesy of SHIG. Pours dark brown with a deep purple tint and minimal head. Aroma is smoky, peat, wood, tar, liquorice, alcohol infused fruits. Heavy lemon berry sour taste. Medium body, soft carbonation. Gunpowder? Certainly does is best to blow your head off.

Sample thanks to Cloin: Poured a brown with a ring light brown head. Aroma is smokey, tangy, fruit, ash, woodsy. Taste is very tart, sour, burnt wood, peaty, sticky dark fruits, smokes overpowers in the end.
