Deep Black color and a nice tan head. Roasty and malty nose, faint caramel and coffee . Decent bitter Taste, dark coffee, roasty.

0,33 l bottle. Nearly black in the glass with a steady two finger beige head. Roasted malty aroma, some dark choco and coffee. Taste is also roasted malty, creamy, some bitter hop, roasted nuts. Low carbonated. Not bad.

330ml bottle. Quasi black colour with huge, frothy, osteoporosing, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Roasty, dark malty and slightly caramel malty aroma, notes of dark caramel, a touch of coffee and burnt caramel, coffee beans. Taste is mildly bitter, roasty dark malty, sweet-ish caramel malty, notes of dark caramel, a touch of coffee, liquorice root. Watery texture, slightly dry palate, medium to coarse, lively carbonation. Nice composition, sadly a bit watery and quite overcarbonated - OK.

On tap. A clear orange brown beer with a beige head. Aroma of mild roasted dark malt, caramel. Taste of mild roasted dark malt, chocolate, caramel, hazelnuts.

Draught, 5.2% at the brewpub. OK roasted and slightly sweet aroma. Almost black colour, seems clear. Small stable tan head. The flavour is nicely roasted and slightly sweet with a good coffee note. Low bitterness.

18/10/2019. Tap, part of their taster board, at Astra Brauerei St. Pauli, Hamburg. Poured dark brown with an off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, toffee, milk chocolate, light coffee and fruit. Medium plus sweetness and light bitterness. Moderate body, oily watery texture, soft carbonation. Decent example of the style and my favourite of the 5 on the board.
