We’ve developed many IPA recipes in our R&D program, but right from the tank, our Manta Ray Double IPA was a winner. Aromas of fresh, citrusy tangerine, melon and light pine leap from the beer and linger over a smooth finish. Like its namesake, this brew can sneak up on you – a big beer without a bite.

From a bottle. Clear deep orange light amber. Smal but dense and lasting sandy head. Big fresh mostly citrus pith and some resinous pine. Full flavored and qute fresh tasting for a big beer. Lingering smooth IBU bite. Very well blanced and very tasty One of my favorite Double IPAs

Sample at the Long Beach tasting room. The beer is a clear golden color with a thin white head that evaporates quickly to a film. Short strings of lace. Aroma of grapefruit, piney hops and malt. Medium body with flavors of resiny hops, pithy citrus and malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a citrusy hop aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Bottle: Pours a pale golden yellow color with a small white head. Sort of looks like a pale lager; enough so that you could a nice dipa incognito in relative comfort, until someone got close enough to smell the potent hoppy aroma. Big fruity hop notes with a little pine, very much hop nectar. Taste is potent with big bitters and moderate sweetness. Overall balanced and easy to drink. Enjoyable.

355ml bottle. Pours orange gold with a decent head. Big juicy orange, mandarin, tangerine, melon, mango, golden syrup. Quite sweet, but fruity enough to pull through that. My problem is a weird savoury bread note in the nose. Close.

Judged during Battle of the Brews in Santa Rosa. This beer ultimately took Best in Show. Clear yellow-gold with fluffy white head. Overt citrus and passion fruit on both the aroma and flavor. Very low bitterness makes this a clean and tasty brew.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours bright gold with a creamy/foamy white head. Aroma of mixed citrus/pine/tropical hop. Med + body. Flavor is "burnt rubber", tropical, tangerine. It’s not dank, but the impact equates to dank. This is heavy duty ale. It’s dry and not harshly bitter. But it’s very hoppy, and pretty darn bitter IMHO. Great ale!!!

12oz bottle pours with a clear pure gold body that supports a white head of foam. The aroma offers up lime peel, thin tangy smelling tangerine, a spicy hop note and then faint cantaloupe and pineapple. The taste is rich and smooth and balanced with rich spicy and citrus hops creating plenty of both hop flavor and bitterness. To midway it picks up a mild tropical fruitiness that blends in nicely with the spicy and citrus that’s going on. The hop balance and clean maltiness makes this dangerously drinkable. I love the way the hoppiness comes together here. Solid and the 8.5% abv really isn’t noticeable.
