We’ve developed many IPA recipes in our R&D program, but right from the tank, our Manta Ray Double IPA was a winner. Aromas of fresh, citrusy tangerine, melon and light pine leap from the beer and linger over a smooth finish. Like its namesake, this brew can sneak up on you – a big beer without a bite.

Small bottle at Alex’s. Bottled on March 9? Provably old already, at least wnells like that. Still not bad, though.

Bottle. Gold with a cm of white head. Smells sweet - honeyed hay - with kumquat, pine, some peach and pepper. Medium bodied. Not as sweet as suggested by aroma - sufficiently lean that the alcohol almost peeks out with the pine and pepper at the end. No juicy element to the citrus, it’s all zesty. Pretty tight, punchy stuff. Bitterness creeps up. Lacks a bit of charm.

12 oz Tulip draft at Waldo Pizza in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is a light haze orange golden with a small white head that leaves behind nice lace. The aroma is floral, straw, citrus and tropical fruit. The taste is the floral citrus fruit hop, along with straw and bit of alcohol as it warms. The palate is medium bodied with soft carbonation and a resin floral finish. Bit of booze as it warms. Solid.

Golden, schöner Schaum, feine Perlung. In der Nase sanfte Mango. Im Trunk alkoholisch, dann cremig fruchtig, süß, hinten bitter. Etwas zu krachig, aber dennoch ein prima IIPA.

Bottle. Pours a clear and bright gold with a sudsy head and aromas of soapy citrus and a little resin. Underwhelming nose, to say the least. Flavor is pretty malty, especially up front, a kind of peach and citrus midsection and a resinous kick that leaves just a twisted bitter late finish. I’m a little disappointed by this one, to be completely honest. Ballast Point has hit so many home runs with their beers that I figured Oh, a new one... I’ll grab that and love it... This one comes across as a run-of-the-mill DIPA with a bit of a bitterness unbalance on the tail end.

Fat Gustav. Klassiskt färgad ipa. Doftar klassiskt USA Ballast point Dipa. Svagt men tydligt av Ladugård . Lågt kolsyrad mjuk krämig i munnen.
