The legend tells how on a dark stormy night, sorne sailors wished to return to port. With their broken compass, their half sunk ship and no visibility the sailors lost all hope. Praying to the “Virgen del Carmen” (patron saint of sailors), among the waves appeared the peak of Juanar. To reward their mountain savior, the sailors built an iron cross with the frame of their boat and erected it on the peak 1178 meters high.

0.33 l bottle from a small local shop in Marbella. Pours black, oil-like liquid with massive, foamy beige head. After tiping the bottle the aroma is hoppy bitter, then after pouring chocolate, caramel and then hops again. Later some alcohol appears, as it warms up. Chocolate, bitter hops in taste, reminds me of dark chocolate. Dry, bitter finish. Well balanced, complex brew.

At a tasting, thanks, big fluffy beige head, opaque very dark brown color, aroma of toasted bread and lightly charred wood and some coffee, flavor of dark chocolate with some charred and hoppy notes and a hint of coffee in the back, medium strong shrubby bitterness. Really good and enjoyable.

Bottle sample at a tasting at troubles’s place. Thanks Cris. Black with a huge tan head. Aroma of roast, piney hops, a bit of licorice. Rather bitter flavor with a sweetish note, with roast, coffee, and a nice, very bitter, piney hops finish. Medium-bodied. Good one.

Botella, @La Jeronima Sevilla. 13/02/2016. 26/06/16 Color negro, aromas herbales, sabor torrefacto,regaliz, resinosa, cuerpo medio. Mas Black Ipa que Stout.

Black. Aroma and flavour have a good balance of malts and hops. Has a strange, almost tongue numbing aftertaste.
