Classically styled Gose made in absolutely non-Gose-related Ireland, big thanks to Craftmember for the can, cheers Vincent. Snow white, loose head, fizzing away like the 'head' on a glass of coke in not much more than a second, vanishing completely; misty straw blonde robe with ochre-ish tinge and strong, champagne-like sparkling. Aroma of green gooseberries, sourdough, freshly squeezed lime juice, wakame, coriander soapiness but relatively subtle, cucumber, samphire, freshly cut apples, raw rhubarb, unripe pineapple, kumquat, hint mandarin. Crisp, tart onset, lime-like lactic sourness stretching through the whole palate with drying effect, fruity hints of freshly cut apples, non-sweet pineapple and green kiwi, enthusiastically tingling but not overly coarse carbonation, lean body; sourdoughy base, with indeed clear samphire- or even sea lettuce-like saltiness at the edges, quite outspoken in this case, while that lactic sourness continues. Drying, citric-sour and lingering salty effect in the finish, with a soapy coriander note that matches with the soapy nature of the wheat, but the sourness keeps it from becoming too soapy. Light floral and even very vaguely citrusy hop touch with a deeply hidden bitterishness in the end, while a chalky-minerally aspect appears at the back. Too bad for the total lack of head retention, but in all a very decent, typical Gose, with this 'marine' effect from the sea salt well conveyed. Ideal as an introduction to the style, apart of course from the 'real' classics like Ritterguts and Bayerischer Bahnhof. Enjoyable and very quenching on a warm, summery evening!

Pale yellow and clear with no head. Aroma and flavour have the lacto sourness and also the aromatic and orange zest notes of coriander seed. Clean. Not particularly sour.
