A superb premium golden ale with wonderful aromas of Amarillo hops and a lasting spicy and orangy flavour. Cara malt provides a little burnished colour, but the light body belies its strength.

Cask at CP&K. It pours clear amber, with a small white head. The nose is floral, mango, orange, passion fruit and white grape. The taste is orange, lemon, soap, floral, mango, white grape and passion fruit, with a solid bitter finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Great balance. Flavoursome and very drinkable. This really is as good as it gets for this style. Great stuff.

500ml bottle. Clear golden colour with medium frothy white head. Wonderful hop aroma, honey, pineapple, resin, spice. Soft palate, well balanced sweet and dry notes, a decent citrus note, also a bit spicy, strawy dry finish. Balanced composition that wins over its subtle notes.

22/12/2011 Cask & 500ml bottle. Dorata, limpida, magnifica schiuma bianca, fine e morbidissima, molto persistente. Spettacolare aroma di luppolo, di una intensità incredibile, con note di malto ben evidenti. In bocca è moderatamente amara, il malto si fa sentire, il luppolo non è così aggressivo, ma è decisamente incisivo per la media delle golden ale inglesi. Corpo medio, carbonazione corretta. Golden ale spettacolare.

Golden light orange, clear, frothy white head, reasonable lacing.
Aroma - Fairly strong citrus hops, resin, bit spicy, sweet malts.
Taste - Citrus, grapefruit and resin, juicy citrus fruits, bit spicy and peppery, sweet golden malts, centre of palate is bitter with prominent citrus tang. Some complexity to the flavour.
Palate - soft carb, medium smooth mouthfeel, bit oily, bit sherberty. Finish - Dry, puckering, bitter citrus lingering finish.
Overall - Superb golden ale - very well made - easy drinking and very quaffable. Must try again on cask.

Bottle. Clear gold with less than a coat of white head. Aroma of marmalade, light caramel, mild spices. Taste has oranges, kumquats, light biscuit - quite sweet before good bitterness with spices and pine. Not deep, just crisp and refreshing - surely would be dynamite on cask, but it’s pretty good in a bottle.

Pours amber with a small quickly fading head.Nose shows lots of citrus and tropical fruit, very sweet-smelling. Also a lot of sweet malt with cookie-dough and toffee characters.Similar flavours with more tropical fruit and the same malt characteristics. Finishes with an assertive bitterness that can’t compete with the sweet malt.Could use a bit more carbonation.A bit heavy-handed with the malt but otherwise really good stuff.

50cl bottle from Tesco’s, Hemel Hempstead. Pale amber with a loose white head; marvellous aroma with tropical fruit, hoiney and a touch of citrus; zesty, grainy flavour and some gently spiced hops to finish. Excellent, but I prefer the Brewer’s Gold.
