Noir du Fermier is a dark farmhouse ale in which the robust, yet dry malt bill is balanced with the brightness, depth and rustic character of the wild Brettanomyces and Lactobacillus found on our family's Missouri farm. This farmhouse ale was fermented in and aged in red wine and bourbon barrels for several months before being naturally conditioned in the bottle.

Draft at SPC. Pours deep brown with a creamy, light beige head. The nose has plenty of dark berry character, soft funk, a little earth. Light-medium sweet with tart berries, currants, raisins, undertones of cocoa. Medium bodied with average, massaging carbonation. Nicely balanced in the finish, with more berry elements, raisins, blackberry. Really tasty stuff.

750mL capped bottle, Blend 1, shared by Dice. Black pour without a head. Oh my god, am I turning old, this beer is just too sour. Itβs not nail polish but it covers up every other beer aspect. I may have liked something like this a while ago but now I want to taste a beer, not just sourness. Also has decent amount of roast flavor but that makes things worse. Overly sour plus roast, those are not appealing flavor combos.
