This stout is luscious and sweet with a velvety mouthfeel that satisfies again and again. No harsh acidity or bitterness, rather a decadent richness and a clean ferment that leaves a harmonious balance alcohol and residual sugars. The high malted oat content ensures a soft rounded body that it’s hard to fault.

Bottle from Beer 52, in what looks like a Belgian beer bottle, possibly Chouffe. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - dark chocolate, but very savoury. Light toffee and biscuit at the back. Taste - burnt bread, light smoke and chocolate biscuit. Palate - Overall - good traditional style stout.

33cl bottle from the Beer52 box for September. A glossy pitch black pour with a fast-fading beige head leaving a thin ring; coffee aroma; thick oaty body with a syrupy chocolate taste; and some raw cane sugar to finish. A pleasant sweet stout.
