Strong and complex, our extra special ale contains an array of malts, hops and our english ale yeast to provide the palate with a great depth of flavours including hints of dark fruits, floral and citrus notes from the generous addition of New Zealand hops late in the boil.

Cask ale, shared, half pint at Rook and Gaskill. Creamy, white head that laces well. Very cloudy, dark orange coloured body. Aroma of ripe fruits and dough. Dried fruity hops joined by mid-sweet malts, marmalade impression. Long-lived bitter ending. Foamy in the mouth. Fine Brit bitter (York, 26.01.2013).

50cl bottle thanks to unstablefable. Pours amber with a nice layer of thin lace. The nose has not much and then a gentle toffee note comes through eventually. The taste has caramel biscuits with a tangy nutty finish. The palate has a medium body and texture with a balanced clean finish. Overall, a well balanced bitter.

Cask at the Euston Tap, London. Pours a just slightly hazy dark gold with a bubbly white head. Aroma is all ripe citrus and faint toasty caramel. Medium sweet flavor with some dank toast, dry caramel, and ripe orange. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Light sweet finish, lightly sticky with some creamy caramel, light ripe citrus, hints of grass. A pretty weak effort overall. No redeeming qualities and what is present doesn’t mesh well.
