Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Peat dominating the aroma, malty sweet, full bodied. Alcoholic, toffee, dried fruit, tar, dominant peat.

Bottle from E-Drinks @ home. Black with a small cream colored head. Smells peat, sweet, roasty, earthy, fingerpaint, iodine. Tastes peat, sweet, earthy, soy sauce, roasty, fingerpaint, iodine. The 400 Watt Laphroaig was better imo. Still not horribly bad, but you need to like peat to truly enjoy this one. Full body, soft carbo.

--- Beer merged from original tick of 150 Watt Laphroaig BA on 25 May 2018 at 14:19 - Score: 7

Bottle @ home. Opaque brown color, average sized off-white to beige head that diminishes fairly quickly. Aroma is malts, quite heavily peated but still quite pleasant. Tastes about the same: malts, peat, band aid, some sweetness and a hint of overripe dark fruits in the finish. Clearly the laphroaig BA had a huge influence. Even if the base beer is gone, I still like the outcome. Heavy on the peatiness, about the limit for me, but nice though.

Bottle. Dark brown pour. Aroma has the delicious laphroaig notes of smoke, salty peat and malt, also some caramel and chocolate. Taste has strong laphroaig flavor, with lots of smoke, peat, caramel, soft chocolate, ripe fruit, whisky booze and a long laphroaig heavy finish. Yes, the whisky has taken over the beer, and yes, this is no proper way of barrel aging. Technically, this beer is not good, especially because the base beer got lost. But hedonistically, I have a soft spot for laphroaig and this is just delicious. So this rating is for my enjoyment of the flavor, for technique, this would loose at least a whole point.

Bottle from het Biermoment, no BB date, 33 cl sample. Almost clear ruby color, short frothy head. Aroma of peated whisky, peat and whisky. There is not much base beer left, maybe the faintest of raisin and caramel, but its almost not noticeable. Even though the laphroaig isnt even that powerful. In flavor more of the base beer, some caramel and raisin, but mostly perfumy dry and peaty alcoholic whisky. Im enjoing the glass of liquor, but balance is dominated by the whisky. I dont like that. --- Beer merged from original tick of 150 Watt Laphroaig BA on 05 Jul 2017 at 22:30 - Score: 5. Original review text: Lots of laphroaig, dont get a lot of basebeer. Im enjoying the glass of peated whisky, but balance is far away.
