Sussex Best is our most famous beer, a superbly balanced bitter with prominent hop character. The brew evolved over decades, satisfying the expectations of the people of Sussex and its adjoining counties. Finest Maris Otter malted barley is supplemented with a dash of Crystal malt for balance. Our hops are a blend of four different local varieties, to give a distinctive hoppy finish.

Deeper golden ale with a small bubbly head, has a malty aroma and a very small fruity taste. Low bitterness.

Cask at Market Porter, smallish head, clear amber colour, malty biscuity flavour, malty musty flavour reminiscent of a cellar with a strong sourness and a medium strong bitterness. Easy drinking but a bit mediocre.

(Cask @The Station Hotel, SE London) Pours amber with a medium head. Aroma and the taste are caramel biscuity malt and fruits, and nice hop profile. Good mouthfeel and very nice bitter finish. A very distinctive taste on the palate. Really like this.

Cask with Sarah. Pours a clear amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes earthy grain and a bit of sweet biscuit. Flavor has earthy grain and biscuit throughout with a hint of backing pine.

An average quality cask bitter. Rather bland and watery. It was perhaps not kept well so should try it again.

Cask at The Old Crown Pub near British Museum. Red amber color with spongy tan medium head that stays long, slight coffee aroma, sharp bitterness in tasting, almost like quinine, medium carbonation, long finish.
