While in Barcelona, Spain, President & Artisan Brewer, Peter Chiodo, made fast friends with brewer Angel Torme Tarragona of L’Anjub Cervesa Artisana. A theoretical brewing discussion about hops and IBUs inspired them to collaborate in the creation of a sessionable IPA with no kettle hops but utilizing all late additions. The plan? To create a fresh IPA (of sorts) with full hop aromas and flavour without –as in ZERO –hop bitterness . . . or a theoretical IBU measurement of zero.

Can from the lcbo. Cloudy orange pour, with a large white head. Light grassy aroma, lemon oil, and light melon. Mouth feel is thin, carb is good. Finish is very low on the bitterness but there is still a bit. Dry finish, the slightest hints of lemon, a very light sessionable beer.

Hazy yellow-gold color with a medium thin white head that evaporates quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lace. Grassy hops, malt and fruit in the nose. Light-bodied with flavors of mild grassy hop, fruit and grainy malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a short hoppy aftertaste. Decent overall.

Can from the LCBO. Crystal clear medium amber with a large lingering White head that leaves patchy lace. Nose has citrus and tropical fruit with pine, grass and light caramel. But, the nose is just a tease. Light+ sweet caramel malt and a touch of peach with only a hint of grassy bitterness. Mouth is slightly thin with average carbonation and a crisp finish. Really not sure what to make of this. 7+/4/5+/3/14

From my brother: pours lightly hazy with white head. Aroma is some fruitiness, flowers, malts. Taste is not bitter as this is a zero IBU beer. Slightly sweet. Fruity. Smooth. Mine might be a bit old but was still fine.

Can from the LCBO that pours a hazy golden colour with a warm frothy cap, decent retention and some light foam lacing. Hoppy nose with some citrus peel, juices that calms down with time, leaving some caramel and grainy malt aromas. Oh wow! This is quite weird to have no bitterness in the mouth. All grain. Some orange hints with caramel as well. Quite a unique experience.
